Salvador Ramos Barrientes passed away peacefully at his home in San Antonio, Texas on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at the age of ninety-four.

Born on September 12, 1931, in San Antonio, Texas, Salvador was the beloved son of Abundio and Maria Barrientes. Growing up in San Antonio, Salvador established the base of his memories and friendships that would define his life.

Upon graduation from South San Antonio High School, Salvador embarked on a long and distinguished career in the service of his country. While in the United States Air Force, he served overseas in Korea during the Korean Conflict as a Security Service Defender earning the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, and the United Nations Service Medal. He would later again serve overseas in Taiwan earning the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal and another National Defense Service Medal for the support of the Vietnam War. Salvador had various assignments stateside and after completing 20 years of unwavering dedication to his duties was honorably retired.

After completing his service career, Salvador responded to an even higher calling to become an Ordained Baptist Minister serving the congregation at Iglesia Bautista Cristo El Rey. He also achieved a bachelor's degree in psychology from Our Lady of the Lake University. After completing his degree, Salvador completed a second career as a truant officer for South San Antonio Independent School District.

Salvador is survived by his second wife, Yolanda Barrientes and children of Juanita Barrientes (his first wife): son Salvador Barrientes Jr. and his wife, Sara, son Daniel Barrientes and his wife, Nelda, son David Barrientes and his wife, Mary Helen, his daughter, Rebecca Allen-O'Brien and her husband Dennis and his youngest daughter, Raquel Olivares and her husband, Nick. Step-children: Javier Barro, Alavaro Barro, Hidrolfo Barro and Anabelle (Galindo) Barro. Salvador was the grandfather of twelve grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

Salvador was preceded in death by his parents, Abundio and Maria Barrientes; his siblings' brothers, Gustavo, Raul, Rudolfo, Raymond and sister, Celia as well as his first wife, Juanita Barrientes.

Visitation will begin on Wednesday, October 1, 2025 at 9:00am at Delgado Funeral Home (2200 W. Martin St, San Antonio, Texas 78207) with a Funeral Service at 11:00am. Funeral procession will depart at 12:00pm for Burial at 1:00pm at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery (1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, Texas 78209). Please arrive by 12:45pm at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery Shelter #1.

The family of the late Juan Sr and Cruz Perez extends our deepest condolences to the Barrientes family. Rev Barrientes was our pastor at Iglesia Bautista Central and Cristo El Rey baptized 2 of my sisters. He also paid respects to Juan Sr my father and fellow Korean War Veteran who passed in 1999.
