Salvador Jara-Gaeta Obituary
Salvador Jara-Gaeta, 94, of Lafayette, Indiana died on the morning of Friday, June 16, 2017 at his residence.
Born July 30, 1922 in Totatiche, Jalisco Mexico to the late Bernardino and Lucia Jara-Gaeta.
Professionally, Salvador worked as a laborer for US Steel in Chicago for 14 years. He enjoyed returning to his country of birth during the summer and winter months.
Salvador is survived by his wife Hilda (Salazar) Jara-Gaeta of over 30 years; two daughters, Dora (husband: Alfonzo) Salazar of Lafayette, IN and Maria (husband: Jose) Haro of St. Louis, MO; two sons, Edgardo Jara of Lafayette, IN and Juan Jara of Chicago, IL; 26 grandchildren and over 50 great grandchildren, and 7 great great grandchildren. Additionally, Salvador is survived by his sister Maria Auxilio of Guadalajara, Mexico.
In addition to his parents, Salvador is preceded in death by his two children, Jaime Jara, Jose De Jesus Jara, and several siblings.
Visitation will take place at Hippensteel Funeral Home on Sunday, June 18, 2017, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Monday, 11:00 AM at the Cathedral of Saint Mary of the Immaculate Conception, 1207 Columbia Street, Lafayette. Father Jeff Martin will officiate. Rite of committal will follow at Saint Boniface Cemetery. Beginning on Tuesday, at 6:30 PM, at the Cathedral, the family will have a nine day novina for Salvador.
