Sam Butcher

We really like Sam Butcher he was not afraid to say he knew the Lord and may he rest in peace in the Lords arms

I was so sorry to learn of Mr. Butcher's passing. I had the pleasure of working with Mr. Butcher at a variety of gift shops coordinating artist signings and Precious Moments Chapter Club visits, during the peak of Precious Moments collectibles. I would always try to have his olives and Jelly Belly candy ready for him at the table. It would not be unusual to push 500 people through a line to have a figurine signed in less than 3 hours. He was amazing and made so many people smile. I cherished all my signed pieces and my personal notes from him.

I learned of Sam Butcher today, May 31, 2024, when I heard a little of his biography and news of his passing from John Hall on WORD-FM Pittsburgh, "The Ride Home with John & Kathy," program I listen to every weekday. It prompted me to go to my curio cabinet and look more closely at the only Prescious Moments figurine I have, given me by my mother who just passed this year at age 91. It brought back so many memories of her giving me this adorable treasure when I was in nursing school -- wearing a white flowered dress with the little girl holding a stethoscope to her heart. The inscription on the base, "Always listen to your heart," was a quote my mother repeated often. Although my husband's passing (he was a Veteran of WWII, Korea and Vietnam) and my own health prompted me to switch to a social work career, I will treasure this figurine all the more, knowing a little about Sam Butcher and the creative, God-given gifts he shared with the world. Thank you for giving me fond memories. May the God of all comfort, comfort your family and friends just as you have comforted me.

Thank you for giving me strength when I feel I had none. Your designs are far more than figures - they are God´s Words in physical form.

Meeting him when I visited precious moments with my mom and sister
many years ago and he stand in the restaurant with us and talk a signed the Bible s I bought my kids a nd a small doll I bought also.He was so nice this place is so special and peaceful to visit you will always remember. Thank you Sam god bless you.

The Beautiful Figurines he created, the first time I saw them was when I was a kid and fell in love with them. I have a nice size collection of them. I also have some dolls too! Thank you for these Wonderful Gifts, they will be forever cherished!

In loving memory of a wonderful person. We will love you and miss you always. I met Sam at a St Charles , Mo and he signed one of my figurines and he was the nicest guy.

My very first memory of Sam was when I bought my very first precious moments, friends never drift apart. My mother and I met him in person years later at an event in Ohio. He signed one of my Sugar town pieces.

Sam and I worked together in the art department at Child Evangelism Fellowship in Grand Rapids, MI. in 1971. In fact, I have two posters that he drew for my bridal shower. I wanted him to autograph them, but it is too late now. A wonderful man. Linda Clark Gallagher Hollingshead

My own experiences is just being able to pick a glass figure from the hallmark where they carried many different ones and the holy bible he held in the hands of the precious moments every figure was so cute I loved them all. May he rest in Peace for all his kindness he gave to the world.

I don't know Sam Butcher, really at all personally, but share a great love for his work. I have collected his ballerinas as my favorites of his collection. The others of my favorites amplify my gracious love of my GOD (Jesus), and daily look at his promises on each figurine. Thank you so much Mr. Butcher.

Precious moments became our family's way of celebrating special events. The most special of all became the many ornaments for our Christmas tree...each year another was added. Thank you Sam for your most beautiful memories of our special and precious moments

RIP Mr Butcher, you were truly an inspiration and will live on in your work. Not only do I collect Precious Moments, I named my childcare Center Precious Moments as well. I met you many years ago and you signed one of my pieces. I have and always will cherish it.

I love the precious moments. Everyone of them are special. I lived the chapel. It was a beautiful place! I was sad when it closed. Sam was truly blessed by God. RIP!

Visited the chapel one day and he had been painting earlier in the day on the ceiling. Have been multiple times to visit since then. Have a lot of precious moments collectables. Prayers for the family!
