It is coming up on 3 years now and I still have so many reminders of Sam. Whenever people ask me about my refereeing career, it always starts with "I had an amazing mentor who took me under his wings." I wish I had the opportunity to share the many stories of Sam....and yes, they are many! Sam would never take "no" (or some other excuse I might try) for an answer. He dragged me (and yes, sometimes I do mean drag) to tournaments all over PA and OH so that I could get experience and so that I could shine. It was never about him...it was about others. He encouraged me to "spread my wings" and he took such pride when he saw me "soar". AND, he was always there to pick up the pieces when things did not go as well as I would like. I remember he came out to Chicago to see one of my big international matches...he said he would not have missed it for the world. What I loved about Sam was that we could have a deep philosophical discussion one moment and a silly laugh the next. Sam will forever be a big part of my life and I will think of him often.

I knew Sam from soccer. We first met in Colorado Springs, CO at an instructor course. He was marvelous. Fun and dry witted. I will miss him.

I had the honor of knowing Sam by sharing an office with him. He was a thoughtful insightful person and it was a prove ledge to know him. I was sorry to find out about his death relatively recently. Cndolences to his family. He was a very special person.

I had the honor of knowing Dr. Sam Cho. He was a caring therapist, educator and kind friend. He took the time to teach me many things and I reflect often on the wisdom he gave to me. I will miss him and I know that he is in Heaven. My sincere sympathy to all his family. Daniel Wholey

Sam was a friend first and a referee second. He was a mentor to my husband Art and a loving guide through life's little stumbles. His time as a National Referee inspector and Assessor led him to many new friends around the World. He was always there when I needed him. Our hearts are with all of you and your extended family!
