Sam Italia Obituary
Peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Wednesday, August 3, 2011. Beloved husband of Renee Italia. Devoted father and father-in-law of Richard Italia, Richmond Italia and fiance Joanne Wheeler, and step-father and father-in-law of Sol Hadef and Gail Dalys, Maurice Hadef and Helaine Peters. Loving son of Touran and the late Abdallah Italia. Cherished grandfather of Tanis and Ayriel Italia; Reyana and Diva Hadef; Rachel and Ethan Hadef. Sam is survived by five sisters and one brother in California and Israel. Dear brother-in-law of Mina Fetaya, Eva and Isaac Alalouf, Suzy and Daniel Yedid, Richard and Dinah Fetaya of New Jersey, Jackie and Stewart Irvine, Paulette and David Pinchuk. He will be sadly mourned by his nieces, nephews, family and friends. Special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of the I.C.U., Royal Victoria Hospital, for their care and devotion. Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean Talon St. W., on Friday, August 5 at 11 a.m. Burial at the Beit Abraham Family Estates Section, Kehal Israel Cemetery, D.D.O. Shiva at his home. In lieu of gifts or flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the "Sam Italia Memorial Fund for Renal Research", c/o St. Mary's Hospital Foundation, (514) 734-2694, or to the charity of your choice.

I met Sam in the fall of 1981 in the automobile business and took an instant liking to him. We continued to do business for many years and became friends as well. Sam was always a kind gentleman and would constantly go out of his way to help others in need. My thoughts and prayers go out for him and I will miss him. My condolences to his family.

I met Sam in 1974 when I'd first arrived in Montreal at the age of 21. I took instant liking for this man and never since I met any one as kind hearted and helpful as he was. To me he was like a mentor and big brother. I learnt a lot during my association with him and later as well. Among many of his remarkable traits one stands out the most and that was his way of handling tough situations with subtlety, ease and calm. He was always ready to help and advise anyone who would go to him. Although I hadn't seen him in years but he always remained in my thoughts and prayers. God bless his soul, may he rest, his family and close-ones shall find solace in great memories he left behind, Amen.
