Sam Ivy, Jr.

IVY, Mr. Sam, Jr. –age 72, of Flint, passed away Saturday, September 21, 2019 at his residence.  Funeral services will be held 11:00am Tuesday, October 1, 2019 with a 10:30am family hour at Sheldon T. Banks Funeral Chapel, 3021 S. Dort Hwy., Flint, MI 48507. Calling hours are 1:00pm-7:00pm Monday, September 30, 2019 at Sheldon T. Banks Funeral Chapel.  The final resting place for Mr. Ivy will Gracelawn Cemetery, Flint, MI.

Mr. Sam Ivy Jr. "Bill" was born February 16, 1947 in Taylor, Mississippi the son of Sam and Margaret (Armstrong) Ivy.

Sam worked at Spooner Sales for 17 years, and Kassele Brothers for 15 years as a crane operator. He loved spending time with his family, going fishing, and just sitting around having a cold one on the couch while watching animal shows on television.

Mr. Ivy leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Dorothy Ivy; Essie Ivy (ex-wife) of Flint, MI; 6 sons, Sam Ivy II, Lavelle (Keisha) Ivy, Lavon Ivy, Anthony Ivy, Larry (Lisa) Dillard, Terry Dillard all of Flint, MI; daughter, Elaine Williams of Flint, MI; 34 grandchildren including, LaQuana Ivy, Sam Ivy IV, and Shaquaya Ivy of Flint, MI; 46 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers, Richard (Rosetta) Ivy of Grand Rapids, MI, Ernest (Lucille) Ivy of Tupelo, MS, and Roy Gordon of Pontotoc, MS; 3 sisters, Emma Porter of Oxford, MS, Ruby Gordon of Tupelo, MS, and Mae Lois Gordon of Pontotoc, MS; sisters-in-law, Lilia Wade and Laverne Wortham of Oxford, MS; a host of nephews including special nephew, Jasper (Autumn) Skinner; a host of nieces, cousins, and friends including special friends, Terri Spohn and Jean Riddle.

Mr. Sam Ivy was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Margaret Ivy; 5 brothers; and 3 sisters including Ruthie Ivy.

The family would like to express special thanks to Grace Hospice and Nurse Tara, Pastor Henderson Lee, and all of our family and friends who helped during our time of bereavement.
