Sam Johnson, 67, of College Mound, MO, passed away on June 19, 2018, at his home.
Sam was born on August 13, 1950, the son of Ward and Virginia (Davis) Johnson in Espanola, New Mexico. On April 26, 1996, he was united in marriage to Roberta Woods at the Kaseyville Baptist Church. She survives.
Sam moved to College Mound in 1974 after getting out of the Army. He lived with his dad and step-mom and help raise his niece, Tracy Mae Johnson Romero. Sam worked for Cario Equipment and at the Walmart Supercenter before his retirement in 2015. He loved woodworking, family, and playing with his fur babies- T-bone, Ribeye, Sirloin, Honeybear, and Blackberry.
He is survived by his two brothers, Richard and wife Monica of New Mexico, and Leo and significant other Jill Mort of Moberly, MO; three sisters, Becky Chene’ of California, Tracy Reeves and husband Garry of Hallsville, MO, and Rae Shelby of Texas; one niece, Tracy Mae Romero and husband Tony; and several other nieces and nephews.
Sam was preceded in death by his parents; twin sister, Janis; one brother, Arch; and step mother, Vera Johnson.
Funeral Services is will be held at 11am on Monday, June 25, 2018 at the Mt. Shiloh Baptist Church in Darksville, MO. Burial with full military honors will be in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, MO. Visitation will precede the funeral service from 9 to 11 am at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ernest and Eugenia Wyatt Guest House.
