Sam Viverito

I just found out about Sammy´s passing. We became friends through my mom, she worked with Michael on a project and introduced us when I moved to New York for college. When hurricane Sandy happened my first semester of college at Cooper Union, michael and Sammy opened their doors to me. I will never forget the times spent with Michael and Sammy. They were always so supportive of me, attending my graduation show in 2016 and always wanting to take me out to dinner. I even got to go to their house upstate multiple times. I always wanted to get married there, it was such a beautiful and serene place. I saw Sammy in New York a few years ago, but I wish that wasn´t the last time. To his family, i know he is sorely missed and I feel that too. I loved him with all of my heart, and I think he knew. I will forever cherish my friendship with him.

Sam was my director in 1994 for a production of "The Most Happy Fella". I will always remember his kindness and care. RIP Sammy.

Oh, Sammy... first Michael, now you. It's heartbreaking. But now, happily, you and he will be together for eternity. I hold such great memories of the parties you guys held at the Kingston house. And to this day I make your famous Pepperoni Bread for Christmas with the family. You are truly loved, and missed. RIP

Dear Sammy. You meant so much to so many. You live on in our hearts.

Sammy was my first cousin and we grew up on the same street. Since I was older than him, I often babysat for him and his brother and sister. From a very early age everyone knew how talented he was. We also knew what a heart of gold he had. He treated not only his parents wonderfully but also his Aunt, my Mother. He treated her like a Queen and for that alone I will always remember him affectionally. He left a big footprint of talent, love and kindness on this world and he will not be forgotten in our hearts or minds. Be at peace now Sammy, the suffering is over. Love, Sylvia

It is with great sadness that I write this message of condolence, on behalf of the Class of '72 NFHS and citywide, to Sam's family and friends. As the years pass and memories fade, those of our dear "Sammy" persist. He is the epitome of unforgettable. Over the years we've relished in Sam's love and exuberance at numerous reunions. Our most recent, our 50th in 2022, was no different. If anyone could rekindle the warmth and joy of our youth, it was Sam. He was a blessing to all of us. His memories a cherished gift. We send prayers and well wishes that the indelible mark he left on all he knew will bring you much needed comfort. We know how joyous he is to be reunited with his beloved Michael. May his joy brighten all our lives at this very difficult time.

I was so happy to spend some time at our high school reunion this past summer. He was truly gifted and kind. He will be greatly missed

So grateful to have had the honor of being directed by Sam, during Covid, in a reading of A Mist Upon the Window, by Nick Rafello. He was a joy to know and work with. The theatre world has lost a gem!

I only met Sammy once but will forever remember him as a sweet, kind, generous man. To me, he will always be the choreographer and stage director of my son, Steven, and his husband, Jonny´s wedding at our house in Colorado.
