Sami Armoyan Obituary
Born on May 10, 1927 in Syria to Armenian parents.
He was a watchmaker and photographer and was also involved in a variety of real estate businesses in Syria and in Canada.
He wanted to bring his family to North America. He immigrated to the United States in 1972 and finally settled his family in Halifax, Canada in 1977.
He was instrumental in guiding his sons in real estate development.
He is survived by his Wife, Anahid Armoyan, his sons, George (Sime) Armoyan and Vrege Armoyan, his daughter, Karoline (Haissam) Haddad, his grandchildren: Taleen, Tony, George Jr., Sam, Jonathan, Victoria and Christina and many nieces and nephews: Wrege, Vreghie, Gohie, Isabelle,, Kirakus, Eddy, Jeriar, Lena (Armoyan), Archmandrite Gomdas and Maro Hovnanian. He is also survived by many relatives in Syria, Lebanon, Armenia, United States and Canada.
He was predeceased by his parents, two brothers and a sister.
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 29, 2014 from 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm, Tuesday, September 30, 2014 from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm and from 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm at Cruikshank's Halifax Funeral Home at 2666 Windsor Street, Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Officiating the ceremony is His Grace Bishop Meghrig Parikian of Montreal and all Canada Bishop of the Orthodox Armenian Church and Archpriest Maximos Saikali of St. Antonios. at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at Saint Antonio's Orthodox Church at 2455 Windsor Street in Halifax. Burial will be at the Gate of Heaven in Halifax and there will be Mercy Meal following the funeral at the Olympic Community Hall at 2304 Hunter Street in Halifax.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Saint Antonio's Orthodox Church Building Fund.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to all of the doctors, nurses and staff at the QEII Health Sciences Centre.

We are deeply saddened by the news of abou George's passing.
I knew Sam as long as I've known my own parents. I still have some of the great photos he took of me when I was just a baby back in Tartous.

I grew up in Tartous and all the pictures on the wall in my home and the rest of the family homes had "sami" on the bottom right corner and I always wondered who Sami was until I was told by my father later on. Although I never met him, I feel your loss too. My condolences and god bless
