Sammie Cicardo Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 1, 2025.
Zwolle - Sammie S. Cicardo, 82, was born August 24, 1942, to Ethel Craig Simpson and Samuel Bartley Simpson in Alexandria, Louisiana, and passed away on Tuesday, January 28, 2025. A memorial to celebrate Sammie's life will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2025, from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. at Cypress Bend Resort, 2000 Cypress Bend Pkwy, Many, LA 71449.

Sammie graduated from Bolton High School in Alexandria, Louisiana, and worked for over 35 years at Central Louisiana Electric Company (CLECO), beginning as a receptionist as a high school intern and rising to serve as Assistant Corporate Secretary. After retirement, she served as Director of Handi Works Productions in Alexandria, providing opportunities for handicapped individuals. Her son and granddaughters value Sammie's tireless work ethic and the example she set.

Sammie and her husband of 63 years, Joe, began to spend most of their time at a home on Toledo Bend Reservoir, where they made so many good friends. She was competitive in her fishing outings with Joe and playing bridge and dominoes with her friends. Sammie was an animal lover, treasuring their sweet dogs Bella and Maggie over the years, and watching geese and their babies, ducks, owls, and eagles come and go at their Toledo Bend home.

Sammie is preceded in death by her parents.

Sammie is survived by her husband, Joseph Cicardo, Sr.; son, Joseph Cicardo, Jr.; granddaughters, Grace Cicardo, Katherine Cicardo McBride (Ryan), Faith Cicardo, and Lily Cicardo; and sister, Jean Penuell, and husband, Richard.
