SAMUEL ABERNETHY Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Feb. 21 to Feb. 22, 2017.
SAMUEL ABERNETHY August 23, 1957- February 13, 2017 Samuel Abernethy died suddenly in Edmonton on February 13,2017. He will be missed with great sadness by his mother Peggy, sister Gail, nephew Alexander and his many friends.

Samuel spent his childhood in Summerland BC and moved to Edmonton in the 1970s where he worked in construction and was an avid amateur photographer. In 1982 he was the victim of a random and violent crime that left him paralyzed on his left side and unable to see well. In spite of this he went on to complete a university degree and travel extensively; he especially loved India.

Recently his disabilities had become more difficult to cope with and his health deteriorated. His good humour and generosity will be greatly missed.

I am very sorry for your loss. Samuel and I were friends for decades. I sold him his first pipe and we had many great conversations in his 112 St. residence. And, most recently, in his new place...

My condolences to Samuel's mother, sister and nephew. I knew him to be thoughtful student and good conversationalist who loved single malts and Cuban cigars. For one who suffered much he cared deeply for others.

My sincere condolences - Samuel and I were great friends in the 70's when I lived in Edmonton, and he remained intermittently in contact with me - I missed him the past few years, and now we will all miss him incredibly.
