Hi, Miriam,
We met at Green's Supper Club some years ago. Sammy will be so missed. I was in Sammy's on opening night; what a treat that was. I remember, once when dancing to a swing number, so close to the band that we were almost in his drum set, he always seemed to put a beat just where I wanted one to be. I will miss him not only for his wonderful music but for the Class Act he was as a human being.

Sammy was my drum teacher quite a while. He will always be with me wherever I go. I will remember your kindness forever sammy. You showed me how amazing the drums can be.

I was so sorry to read about Sammy. I did make it to the funeral but didn't have the opportunity to speak to anyone in the family. I had the pleasure of knowing him from Sammy's and then working with him at that strange Chinese Deli place. I just wanted to say that Sammy was one of the best!

When my husband and I began dating in 1978, one of our favorite spots was Sammy's -- and he always greeted us with his famous "babe" line. After Sammy's closed, we caught his fantastic drumming whenever we could at spots around the area. We were deeply saddened when we read of his passing. But now he can play his drums forever!

Dear Meme, I was so sorry when I heard about Sammy passing, and that I didn't read about it time to make it to the funeral. He was a very good friend to Ernie, and we had some great times. Now that he's in heaven he can do a solo as long as he wants. No, wait--he already did that here. My best to you and your family.

Uncle Sammy looked at the world with rose colored glasses.He knew how to put a spin on trying times and make life an adventure. He was a fun uncle and I will miss him.

I was so saddened to read this. Sammy was the greatest! He has given me so many fond memories, playing in all the local restaurants and downtown hotel, after "Sammys." He will be so missed. My thoughts and prayers are with Miriam, Lee, Judi and families.

Playing with greats like Billie Holiday Sammy was a true legend in the jazz world with a personality to match. He opened many doors for jazz players in the triad including me! I remember going into a jazz club in Weisbaden, Germany where a very famous trumpet player from the Ukraine was playing. Sammy insisted that they were friends from years ago. We were skeptical but when the guy walked on stage he spotted Sammy there and they gave each other a big hug. They hadn't spoke in 40 years. I was impressed and that was the kind of impression Sammy made on people. My heart goes out to the family. Sammy will be missed but never forgotten.

Mr. Anflick was my drum teacher for little over a year and I'm really going to miss him. I will really miss the How ya doin babe. His passing broke my heart and I loved taking lessons and listening to him play. Bye Sammy.

I had the pleasure of meeting Sammy several years ago through his grandson Jason Bleiberg..I instantly found myself intrigued by his infectious humor and personality. He will be missed and remembered by all that he touched and I know he will never be forgotten.. He was such a Mensch..A sheynem dank Sammy !

Sammy will live on in our heartBEATS. He never ceased to bless us with the "Babe" term of endearment, his good nature, joy of life and drumming. When Ben beats it is for Sammy past, present, and future. What a pleasure to have known such a great man. Our heartfelt condolences for his wonderful family

My good friend Sammy has gone but will be remembered by the multitude of friends he had. He was one in a million and gave Greensboro a jazz club that has never been replaced. I will miss him deeply.

It was with true regret that I learned of Sam's passing. He was a legend and a dear friend. His talent was as real as his outgoing personality. I moved to Greensboro in 1972. My introduction to the city was to be taken to Stamey's Barbecue, Moore Music Company, and Sammy's. I have fond memories of listening to all the great players at Sammy's and watching Sam play drums with his right hand and ring up the cash register with his left. The man was truly amazing and I will miss him. My prayers and thoughts are with Miriam and the family. Goodbye, Sam. I love you.

I have spent many a happy evening at "Sammy's" and he was a great entertainer. He will be truly missed.

My wife and I spent many wonderful evenings enjoying great food and fantastic jazz at "Sammy's" in Greensboro. Sammy was always a gentleman, fantastic host, and great friend. I will miss him. My condolences to Miriam and the family.
