One of the kindest and nicest people I´ve met. He will truly be missed
Matthew Donchin

I first met Sam in my freshman year of high school. We were assigned as partners for a science project that quickly turned into our dads project because it involved their engineering backgrounds. In that time Sam and I grew closer and ended up every third trimester playing for the ultimate Frisbee team.
Sam and I always had a competitive friendship, from him trying to get me to join the wrestling team while he always wanted to arm wrestle. I will never forget the time we went to a red sox game together and he took me in the lotus.
Sam always found passion in whatever he did. I don´t think he ever was sad or angry at any problem. He muscled through to the solution and when he won he was the happiest. Sam improved whatever he was a part of and when I learned of his passing my first thought was "it is too soon". He had so much more to give this world and it will not be the same without him.

Kim and Eric,
We were devastated to learn about Sam's death in a recent CHCH newsletter and wish that we had known about his passing earlier. Sam was a kind, caring kid with a dry sense of humor and who always had a smile on his face. We were glad to see from the posts here that Sam carried those wonderful traits into adulthood and how well liked and respected he was in his personal and professional lives. He is clearly missed by those he loved most and the many people who were lucky to have known him during his too-short life.
May your memories of Sam, and the support of others outside of your family who are also mourning his loss, be a blessing and bring comfort to you now and in the future.
Hugs,
Nancy and Dale Donchin

It was a boon for me to find Sam, who, as has been said, understood computers like very few others, and who could fix anything. It was always hard for me to believe his work desk, with hundreds of tiny screws strewn about, but he really knew where all of them went and had the patience to put them all back after he fixed whatever was wrong.
What a terrible loss for his parents and friends and for all of us who rellied on him.

I went to Sam for help with a computer problem I was having, and in his very direct way, without fuss or ceremony, he helped me a lot. It´s tragic that he should be gone like this, so early.

Dear Kim and Eric:
I appreciated Sam so much. Whenever I needed Sam´s repair help with my iPhone and MacBook he always made himself available.
I was always bump into Sam in and around Back Bay and he was always so friendly, taking the time to ask me how my day was going.
Sam´s passing seems so unfair and I will miss his friendship.
Still trying to rap my head around that he has passed.
All my best,
Eric

Dear Kim, Eric and the Giler family,
I was deeply shocked to hear about the sudden and tragic passing of your beloved son, Sam.
Since receiving the news, I´ve been going about the day thinking about Sam, whose life was cut off far too soon. Please know how sorry I am for your loss of Sam.
I do realize that mere words cannot even begin to assuage the enormity of grief and emotional agony you must be going through.
Yet, if I can do anything to support you, even in a miniscule way, please don´t hesitate to reach out.
(*Perhaps you know of a place that was important to Sam to which I can contribute?).
Thinking of you all during this overwhelmingly difficult time, and
and with deepest sympathy,
Jack

I am devastated to hear of Sam´s passing. I remember him fondly from his younger years and how much joy he gave to Kim and Eric. And it was always good to get the occasional kids updates from Eric from time to time. It also immediately reminds me of my mom`s untimely passing from an aneurysm the March before graduating from business school. I wish I could attend the memorial service but will thinking of the family and Sam.

We are heartbroken for Kim and Eric to have lost dear Sam so soon. Time may heal many wounds, but the pain from this loss will never really leave. May his memory be a blessing to all who knew the joy that Sam brought to life.
In the spirit of celebrating Sam's life, the message and pictures that Jonathan Hahnleft provided made me smile from ear to ear. I saw the two of you riding around in Sam's Lotus that day (the gearheads will note no front plate in the pic), which made me smile at the time and does the same now. That picture just epitomizes the joie de vrie that Sam brought to all of his endeavors.
With me deepest condolences.

I met Sam about 4 years ago at one of the shake shack car meets. He approached me and asked about my YouTube channel (Shep´s Garage) ever since then we had a great friendship through cars, later I found out he went to CHCH for highschool, just like I was at the time. We attended many car shows together and went on many drives. He was super motivating for me for my YouTube channel but also working out. He´s the reason why I´m going to the gym as often as a i am. I am deeply going to miss him, My sincerest condolences to to the rest of his family going though this difficult time right now.

While in disbelief, I am glad to have known Sam, a good and funny spirit.
When I moved to Massachusetts and began knocking on doors for technological partners, he and Back Bay Computers were my first one. We made an appointment at a coffee shop on Newbury, met him and going forward he trusted me with his clients for years.
He was a happy person and loved to tinker with technology. I loved his calm demeanor.
May God cherish his soul in paradise!

We own the grooming salon where Sam brought Valerie (and more recently Cal) for many years. Sam's sudden passing struck us hard because he was a friendly neighbor, an extremely pleasant customer and, most importantly, a dog lover. Rest in Peace.

Sam was always a smiling face to see at car events, and would always be there to talk to whenever I needed (or didn´t need) something. Uplifting, hard working, upstanding person. It was truly a pleasure to meet him, and know him for the time that I did. My sincerest condolences to the rest of the family.

A super nice and talented guy. I could walk into his shop, have a meaningful interaction, and maybe get some tech object fixed. He was a rarity and I will miss him.

I truly appreciated and greatly enjoyed knowing Sam. He always greeted everyone with a smile (I'm not exaggerating - always!). Even if he was exhausted or upset about something else, he cared enough about everyone that Sam invested all his energy and true feelings into every personal interaction, whether a new acquaintance or an old friend. I will always remember Sam as a kind and caring person with an irresistibly contagious smile.

Sam really was an amazing person and the light of the Boston car community. I had the pleasure of knowing him since 2018 due to some mutual friends, and once we were introduced we hit it off. Every post I made, he always commented. We always poked fun at each other through texts and in person, and honestly sometimes I would make posts I knew he would poke fun at me for just to see what he could come up with. He was at almost every show I went to and it was always a pleasure to see him. He will be dearly missed by all.

Dear Kim and Eric,
It is with a sense of disbelief and sadness that we learned Sam is no longer with us. He was such a caring soul. We remember the wonderful graduation party you hosted in Sam's honor at the Wellesley home.
May you be comforted by this thought:"Angels descending, bring from above, echoes of mercy, whispers of love. "

Kim,
One of my favourite memories from our time together at Hunnewell School..second grade presentation for Michael & your Ben, I arrived a bit late and stood in the back, watching you holding little Sam on your lap, smiling your beautiful smile as you watched Ben's presentation I was touched by the love that filled your heart for your children...strength to you and Eric and your family . Sam touched many people with his goodness, and will forever be with you .

Sam's life was full and touched so many people. From the time Sam joined our family he has been a blessing to all. Smart and talented but always kind he will be so missed. I am sharing two pictures from many years ago that are Wallpaper on my computer so I see them everyday but because they are so old I apologize for the resolution. I will miss the more recent text's and instagrams form Sam, and will think of him whenever the Patriots and Panthers play. Prayers and love to all who are mourning his passing. The world was better place because he was here.

Sam was one of my groomsmen at my wedding, a mentor throughout high school and college, and someone I will always consider a brother.
During Covid, my high school graduation was cancelled. It was a tough time for me. In typical "Gam" spirit, he made sure to help make my senior year special. For the graduation parade, which was scheduled as a replacement to high school graduation, Sam drove the Lotus and had me ride in the passenger seat. I look back on those photos from graduation with smiles and tears.
Sam has always been there for me and my family, through the tough times AND the great ones too. Regardless of circumstance, he always put others before himself. His caring spirit will live on in strength, and he will be remembered as a man who acted selflessly in order to take care of the people who surrounded him.
