Samuel Curtis Harman

Samuel Curtis Harman, born May 9, 1942, in Topeka, Kansas, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2025, in Spokane, Washington, at the age of 83.

Samuel devoted his life to education, serving as a high school history teacher for more than 40 years. His passion for storytelling and his ability to bring the past alive inspired countless students, many of whom went on to pursue careers in teaching, law, and public service.

Outside the classroom, Samuel was an avid fisherman and gardener. He found joy in quiet mornings at the river and afternoons tending to his vegetable patch. Friends and neighbors remember his generosity, often returning home with a basket of his homegrown tomatoes or zucchini.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Margaret (née Ellis), his son, Andrew Harlan, and his daughter, Rebecca Lopez, as well as four grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held September 12, 2025, at Riverside Memorial Chapel in Spokane.
