Samuel E. Pretz
Samuel Engleman Pretz, age 90, of White Horse Village, Newtown Square, formerly of Wayne, Pa., died on February 26, 2008. Born on August 4, 1917, he was the fifth son of Reuben Christian and Maude Miriam (Cunningham) Pretz. He was the beloved husband of Dorothy (Troutman) Pretz for 58 years. Together they had six absolutely great children. Sam graduated from Penn State College with an engineering degree in 1943 after spending many great years growing up in Allentown and graduating from Allentown High School. He served in the Pacific region during World War II. Sam worked in the Long Lines Division of AT&T in several locations with assignments in radio relay. In 1960, he joined the missile and space operation of the General Electric Company, with subsequent positions at R.C.A. and The Hilltop Preparatory School. In 1973 he started a Mr. Fix-it business that continued for more than twenty years. Survivors: He is survived by his six children and their spouses, L. Dale and Gayle Pretz of Shillington, Mary L. and Alton Lawson of Pittsburgh, Tim and Lee Pretz of Malvern, Derek and Barbara Pretz of Havertown, Trean and Ray Bock of West Chester, and Todd and Ellen Pretz of Brielle, New Jersey. His life was further brightened by 15 grandchildren. Services: Memorial, 11 a.m. Friday, February 29 at St. Luke Evangelical Lutheran Church, 203 N. Valley Forge Rd., Devon, Pa. Contributions: Sams many friends and supporters at St. Lukes contributed towards the most satisfying portion of his life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his honor to St. Luke.
