Tonight sitting at Taka, glimpsed a silver haired man walking up Cookman Ave.
For a fraction of a second, there was that familiar recognition.
But before the thought could even register, I knew.no, that’s not Sammy.
It will never be Sammy again.
What a sad reality.
What a void, here in Asbury Park, is left in your wake, Sammy Boyd.
But we will smile because we were lucky to have known you, and will never forget your dynamic presence.

Very thankful and grateful to Sammy, for all the opportunities and access to great music, volunteering at some great concerts in Asbury. Being able to help you out for some good charities and people in need, at the same time, leaves me with alot of good memories. Peace to you and yours.

I feel fortunate to have known Sammy. He found me my first apartment in Asbury and hired my daughter to work at Maruca's. We shared may laughs and cocktails along the way. You will be missed Sammy

As a founding member of The Nerds, I am saddened by his passing. Sammy got us our first bunch of gigs and remained a friend of the band since then. I ran in to him several times at the Wonder Bar, and he was always very gracious. He was a good guy.

If you are lucky enough to meet a "Sammy" in your life consider yourself incredibly lucky. A true one of a kind that we will not see again. Prayers for Eileen Sam and Sal.

May Sammy Rip he was such a great guy I remember going to church at saint Mary’s every Sunday as a kid and Sammy would be playing the guitar at church. With the band. I remember every Sunday I would ask my parents is Sammy going too be there? Is Sammy going to be there ?

What a tremendous loss. I have fond memories of Sammy singing doo-wop outside the doors of Boonton High School. He was such a cool dude way back then and was named Boonton HS Best Dressed Senior. I love hearing about his success and knowing what a wonderful life he led. Condolences to his family and his amazing community in New Jersey.

We are so shocked to hear of Sammy's passing we worked for him at yakety yak cafe and those were some of the best times of our lives. Sammy was so good to us, we had our wedding at yakety yak and he and Eileen made it a magical wedding. Sammy was a true gem and gave so much joy to everyone that knew him. Our hearts are very sad and our prayers go out to Eileen And Sam and Salvatore. May you find comfort in all of the cherished memories you had Together. Sammy was one of a kind! I always enjoyed grabbing a quick chat and talking about music with him. He brought the best talent to Asbury using diverse formats (Paramount back stage, up close and personal at McLoone's Supper Club, the Basic, etc.) and a special treat of having Darlene Love in so many venues. This is a great loss to Asbury Park and to Eileen and his family. He had such a large positive than life personality. May he rest in harmony and peace.

I’m so sorry to hear about Sammy. My heart goes out to his wife Eileen, Sal, and the rest of the Boyd family. Sammy was a great friend for almost 45 years. I’ll miss his legendary smile. For me, Sammy will always be a part of that special time when the NJ club scene rocked 7 nights a week with live music. Sammy’s agency, Entertainment East was the biggest and best agency for local talent. He never stopped loving and supporting music and was a huge part of Asbury Park history. We will all miss Sammy. RIP my friend.
