Samuel T. "Melton" Shepherd

Services for Samuel T. “Melton” Shepherd, 79, Tyler will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Shiloh Road Church of Christ with Mike Warner and Mark Edge officiating. Burial will be in the Hamilton-Beeman Cemetery in Retreat, near Corsicana, under the direction of Burks Walker Tippitt Funeral Directors, Tyler.Mr. Shepherd died January 13, 2008, in Tyler. He was born April 26, 1928, in Navarro County, Texas to the late Walter T. Shepherd and Lovie L. Bonner Shepherd Chavers. He is retired from Kelly Springfield and a member of the Shiloh Road Church of Christ.Survivors include his wife of 57 years Bettye Shepherd of Tyler; sons, Steven L. Shepherd of Murchison, Kenneth R. Shepherd of Tyler and Melton “Bear” Shepherd of Tyler; sisters, Jacquie Rash of Corsicana, Linda Condor of Kemp, Pat Welch of Kemp and Sue Haick of Dallas; 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.Pallbearers will be Darwin Thomas, Travis Hunt, Joe Odom Weldon Booth, Jim Armstrong, James Farmer, J.D.
