BAKKEN, Sandra Jean
January 29, 1951 – November 20, 2017
Sandra passed away suddenly at home on Monday, November 20, 2017 at the age of 66 years. She was predeceased by her parents Otto and Ruth Rumpel; and her father-in-law John Bakken. Sandra is survived by her loving husband of 45 years Ken; children Robert (Nicoel) and Todd (Joanne); grandchildren Brianna, Makayla, Jenessa, Addison and Tanner; brother Reg Rumpel; and mother-in-law Beulah Bakken. Sandra was born in Regina and raised on the family farm north of Balgonie. She completed her schooling in Balgonie and married Ken in 1972. Sandra was a member of the community club and enjoyed curling with her best friends. In more recent times she enjoyed attending activities involving her grandchildren. Sandra was fortunate to be surrounded by many friends. A CELEBRATION OF LIFE will be held at Regina Funeral Home and Cemetery, 4001 East Victoria Avenue, Regina, SK on Friday, November 24, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Sandra may be made to the Jim Pattison Children's Hospital Foundation, 345 3 Avenue S #1, Saskatoon, SK S7K 1M6. I was shocked to hear of Sandy's passing this past week. Our sincere condolences to you, the boys and their families, plus Reg and your Mom too. Her rosy cheeks and broad smile, I have so many fond memories of Sandy from our first day in grade one together through grade twelve graduation and beyond. I will always remember when you first started dating and the many good times we had together. Look back and remember those times as they were happy and very special. So, so, sorry to hear of your sudden loss of Sandy! I was lucky enough to see her at the Balgonie Senior's supper last Fall and this summer during my Sask visit. It had been many years since I last saw her and she was still the same Sandy with that special laugh. How well I remember the many good times shared with her and Kenny in our High School years and then the family visit you had at the Shuswap. I was shocked to read of Sandy's death. Although it is almost half a century since you were in my classes at GHS, I still remember her as a quiet, hardworking student who got along with everyone.
