Sandra Suzanne Below

Sandra ("Sandi") Suzanne Herlache Below, aged 83, of Woodbury, CT passed away peacefully on October 2nd, 2024 in the presence of her family after complications from an ongoing health issue.

Sandi was born on October 28th, 1940 in Sturgeon Bay, WI. In 1986, Sandi graduated with a Master of Social Work and then went on to obtain her certification in Marriage and Family Therapy. She had a successful private therapy practice for 40 years where she touched the lives of many individuals, couples, and families. Sandi loved her work so much that she continued her practice for the entirety of her life, supporting her clients well past retirement age.

Over the years, Sandi enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, caring for her dogs, gardening, visiting museums, meditating, reading, and frequenting local flea markets. She was a talented artist with a vast collection of paintings that remain treasured by her family. Sandi was an iconoclast and self-proclaimed "recovering Catholic." She loved to learn and was ahead of her time in many domains of life including physical health, mindfulness, personal beliefs, and values.

Sandi is survived by her siblings, Marsha Herlache, Tricia Anderson, Pam Stilp and John Stilp; her children, Kelly Haskins, Randy Below and Ellen Below; and her grandchildren, Alison Below, Madison Haskins, Lindsay Below, Reilly Haskins and Andrew Below. A celebration of Sandi's life will be held at Flanders Nature Center on Sunday, October 6th; please contact a family member for additional details.
