Mrs Checkoway was one of my favorite teachers. I had her 2 years in a row, for 7th and then 8th grade. She and I bonded over theme songs. And later, when I worked at a coffee shop in town, I gave her tips on how to solve Sudoku puzzles. The last time I saw her, in 2016, she still remembered me. I just looked her up on a whim and found this. I send my condolences and heartfelt happy memories. Thank you for the warmth, Mrs Checkoway.

We were quite saddened to hear of your mom´s passing. Upon meeting her it became an instant friendship. Though we only spent part of the year in New England over several years it was always such a joy to come back and be in touch. We will especially never forget our bar-b-ques together in Woburn.
You have our deepest sympathy.

I´m sorry for the loss of your mother, Michael. I remember Sandy as warm and welcoming to me. She clearly delighted in you and she liked her red purse. Thinking of you and Denise.

So sorry to hear about her passing. She was a wonderful person and a great teacher! So many of our children were so lucky to have had her as their teacher. RIP
