In Loving Memory of Ethel Mae Curry McClure

Ethel Mae Curry McClure, 84, of Sallisaw, Oklahoma, departed this life on June 23, 2025. A beloved member of her community, Ethel was born on November 6, 1940, in Sallisaw, Oklahoma, to Ida (Long) Curry and John Curry.

Ethel’s life was marked by her love for family and dedication to her work. She married Connie O'dell McClure on March 21, 1961, sharing many cherished years together. Ethel contributed to the lives of countless children as a cook at Tommie Spear Middle School, where she embraced her role with warmth and kindness.

She leaves behind a loving family, including her daughter, Tammy Hale and Jerry of Sallisaw, OK; her son, Johnny McClure and Shannon of Hackett, AR; and her seven grandchildren, Dereck Hale, Cody Hale, Taylor McClure, Titus McClure, Shannon McClure, Avery McClure, and Ashlyn McClure. Ethel also was blessed with five great-grandchildren: Creed Hale, Demree Hale, Ridge Hale, and Nova McClure, as well as Christopher Ritchie.

Ethel is survived by her sister, Florence Ann Thomas and Herbert of Brushy, OK, and her brother, Roy Curry and Hope of Yukon, OK. She was adored by numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends who will deeply miss her loving spirit.

Preceding her in death were her husband, one son, Mark McClure, her parents, four brothers, Raymond, Jimmy, and Leroy "Peewee" and Thomas Curry; and two sisters Maggie Lockhart and Eva Jean Lowe.

A funeral service to celebrate Ethel's life will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, June 27, 2025, at the Agent Mallory Martin Chapel in Sallisaw, Oklahoma, with burial to follow at Drakestand Cemetery. Viewing will take place on Thursday from 10 AM to 8 PM at Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home, where the family will greet guests from 4 PM to 6 PM.

Active pallbearers will include Dereck Hale, Cody Hale, Eddie Curry, Dennis Thomas, Jerry Hale, and Johnny McClure.

Ethel Mae Curry McClure will be remembered for her unwavering love, commitment to family, and the joy she brought to all who knew her.
