NORTH WATERBORO — Sandra M. Orr, a longtime resident of North Waterboro, died in the company of her family on Jan. 15, 2011, after a short battle with cancer at the age of 61.

She was born in St. Johnsbury, Vt., to the late Warren MacNeilage and Gloria Reed MacNeilage.

She was raised in Windsor, Vt., and graduated from Windsor High School. She attended Florida Bible College.

She worked as the school secretary for Waterboro Elementary School for 25 years.

She took great pleasure being Nanny and Yaya to her grandchildren, Owen, Jordan, Sully and Libby.

She was active in her church and especially enjoyed her time teaching vacation Bible School, church nursery and junior church.

She was well known for her great cooking, baking, organizational skills, and white-glove inspections.

Family members include her husband of 41 years, Terry Orr; her son, Tobin Orr, stationed in Okinawa, Japan; daughter, Courtney Towns, of Athens, N.Y.; sister, Lynne Bride, of Weare, N.H.; and brother, Reed MacNeilage, of Milford, Vt.

Memorial visiting hours were held on Tuesday, Jan. 18, at East Waterboro Free Baptist Church, with a memorial service on Wednesday, Jan. 19, at 3 p.m. at the Hollis Center Baptist Church. A reception was to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to American Cancer Society or American Red Cross.

Arrangements are under the care of Direct Cremation of Maine.

We send our love and prayers to Sandra's family. It seems too young to leave us. Sandra and Lynne encouraged me 40 years ago to get to know a man that would be my future husband. I am so glad they did. Goodbye but see you later Sandy! Love, Jane & Butch
