Sandy T. McCarthy

Sheranne Sandy T. (Chretien) McCarthy, 59, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford. Born in Holyoke, MA on October 12, 1954, she was the daughter of the late Emile and Dorothy (Peloquin) Chretien of South Hadley. Sandy was a graduate of South Hadley High School and later attended Holyoke Community College. Sandy was currently employed as an Administrative Assistant for Dr. Vasilios Bill Karabinis, MD in Enfield, CT for over 20 years. Sandy is survived by a sister, Suzanne M. (Chretien) Carey of Feeding Hills, a brother, Emile B. Chretien and his wife Dee of North Hampton, NH, two nieces, Rebecca S. (Carey) Fagan and her husband Matt of Quincy and Katherine (Carey) Wolk and her husband Mike of Northampton and their daughter Maya. She is also survived by her former husband, Edward S. McCarthy of Westfield, and her cherished dog, Charlie McCarthy. Sandys dry sense of humor and wit will be missed not only by her friends and family but her many patients and especially Bill and best friend Neldene Nell Frye. The family would like to extend their deep appreciation to Dr. John Thayer and his team of surgeons, nurses and staff at St. Francis who did everything within their power for Sandy. Calling Hours for Sandy will be held on Wednesday, July 16, from 9am 11am in the Byron Keenan Funeral Home and Cremation Tribute Center, 1858 Allen St., Springfield with a Prayer Service to follow in the funeral home at 11am.
