I'd been thinking of Mr. Guerra a lot this past week. And now I see his obituary 14 months after his death. Sometimes he was Mr. Guerra or Coach Guerra. I was fortunate to be his student in both Math and PE classes. He challenged his students without being stern or serious. He had so many stories to tell, and they stayed with you because he was so descriptive. After I left Lincoln Jr. High, I only remember seeing him once in public after that, in the mid 1980s. I'm sorry that he is gone. My condolences.

I just heard about Tito's death. I wish I could have been there for the services. My heartfelt condolences to the Guerra family; Milo, Elia, Gilbert, Corina, Horace, Irma, Ernie, & Army. This family was close friends with our family and lived a block away from us. Each one of them was a close friend of one of my siblings. Tito and I were friends since 1st grade when we both attended Lincoln Elementary and later Wilson, Lamar & McHi. He was best friends with my brother,
Eliseo "Mouse", who has welcomed him with open arms into heaven. I have such fond memories of our childhood fun and adventures.
As life happens and we grow up, marry, raise our own families and some of us move away, we lose touch.
The last time I spoke to Tito was by phone at our 50th high school reunion. He was not able to attend because of health issues.
Rest in peace our dear friend. You will always remain in our hearts.

I worked with Tito at lincoln junior high 30 years ago and he took me under his wing and helped a rookie teacher with his vast experience. He was very giving and willing to help not only students but teachers also! God bless you and keep your soul

Mr. Guerra was my 8th-grade Algebra teacher at Lincoln Jr. High. He always had time for me and encouraged me. He helped instill confidence in me that I could do anything. Such a sweet man that had a gift teaching. "Lord now you let your servant go in peace: your word has been fulfilled." Peace and comfort to all who love him. - Laura Hawley Koenig

I met Santos during my first year of teaching at Veterans Memorial HS. He called me his "rookie" and definitely coached me up to make a difference.

Mr. Guerra mentored me as a young, aspiring teacher. He called me his rookie and did one hell of a job coaching me up. Glad God gave me the opportunity to meet the man.

Santos Tito Guerra better known as Chuy. You are loved and will be greatly missed. Your sayings and quotes still resonate in my head to this day like..... Con ganas por que sin ganas no ganas!! Not only did I(Lincoln Middle School), but one of my daughters(Veterans Memorial High School) had the honor and privilege to call you our teacher. And you also helped my other daughter to get better with her math even though she was not your student. Selfless and always cheerful is how I will remember you. RIP Chuy!! To the family, my most sincere condolences.

I never met Tito Guerra in person but I knew of him. I was born in '56 and was still a youngster when Tito was the QB for the McHi Bulldogs. Being an avid sportsfan, I would listen to the games on radio on Friday nights or would make my way to the old McHi stadium hoping to catch a glimpse of him and the Bulldogs in action. He seemed to have lead a long successful life and for that I congratulate him and his family. May God give you peace and strength to keep his memory alive in your hearts.
Respectfully,

Tito was remembered for his athletic talents, but I also knew him as a singer with a gift to croon the females who came to hear him sing. He performed with The Cavaliers and belted out his favorite Rolling Stone song,

Tito and I were both McAllen ISD math teachers. We spent time together in training sessions and always had something to talk about. Loved teaching and knowing his children while they were at Memorial High School. Thinking of his family and praying for their comfort and peace!
