I was recently cleaning out my closet and found a skirt that I had bought at Anne's dress shop when I work there in the early '70s. Me being a transplant from Virginia, Mrs. Snyder offered me a job and she took me under her wing. Taught me so much about the retail world. She even paid for my plane ticket when I returned to Virginia for holiday. Years later I returned to Virginia where I entered the retail world once again... Which lasted 22 years.. the best times of my life and I owe it all to Miss Sarah. The last time I saw her was 1978 on my honeymoon. We stopped by Anne's and introduced my husband to her. I will never forget Sara!

I loved shopping at Anne's with my late mother Karen Kreutner. Sara, Gary, and Carly were always so kind. These are some of my favorite memories with me mom.

Sara was loved by all that knew her, and has been missed every day since leaving King St. She touched so many lives with her wonderful smile and genuine care for everyone she met. She was the best and loved me and all her grandkids under no conditions! I thought she was immortal and invincible. It's difficult, sad, and celebratory all at the same time. To see her lowered to rest today next to Gil brought the most joyful tear in my eyed. She loved Gil more than anyone in the world. Thank you all for the outpouring of love and support. Sara loved everyone of you. Please leave a note or memory. It's so nice to read them all!

I was lucky enough to be Monday night dinner guest of Sara, Gil , Aunt Shirley and Uncle Arnold. When Sara would be on her buying trips I would be Gil's date! The last few years it was Aunt Shirley, Sara and I. We always went to the new hip restaurants and talked about my love life. The last dinner was at Snob's and Sara made me take a picture alone in the middle of the restaurant standing up as she wanted to send to someone about a guy to set me up with. She was so young at heart and in spirit that I truthfully didn't think about the likelihood of her passing. I was so sadden to hear of this news. She was my friend and will be greatly missed. My Aunt Shirley lost one of her last best friends.... :(

When we moved to the Fort Sumpter House, Sarah and I became fast friends. She knew many of my friends in Columbia ,and we shared countless memories about them as well as my dad, Lee Baker. I counted her as one of my best friends and admired her immensely. I am shocked beyond measure as we were set to meet on Thanksgiving.

She had tremendous wisdom and we shared much. Sarah will remain a stellar example in my life. I continually said, "I want to be like you when I grow up."

May her memory be a blessing.

from the late 50s till 62, when I moved to NJ, Sara dressed me as if I were so special. She was warm, caring, and very attuned. It was a great pleasure to have known this lovely woman. I used to see her with her husband, Gil, at local restaurants in Charleston & waved & stopped to say hello. Later, I saw her in Mt. Pleasant quite a few times in local eateries there. She was always so gracious.

I feel I've known Sara most of my life- From Ashley Hall to living in Charleston. I always shopped at Anne's. I love that she and I lived on the same floor at The Fort Sumter House so I would often see her unexpectedly and we would have a great visit. Last Sunday Sara and I were both having manicures with Nina at East Bay Nails. That was less than a week ago and she was so upbeat & positive. I loved that quality in her. She always wanted to know about YOU! Her absence will be so missed by me, The Fort Sumter House, so many women in Charleston ... My condolences to Gary and all the family. Love, Russell
