Hey grandma. I hope over the years you´ve seen how much I´ve tried to follow the ways you taught me. I miss you more than words can express. My heart is so broken without you. I needed you to be here I needed you to be here I needed you. It may be selfish but I wish God had taken someone else and not the only person who cared for me. I hope you are proud of me and I pray that I could be a reflection of you until we meet again. I love you

Ms. Batts was truly an inspiration for my mother before she passed in 1998 and to me, and for that I am very grateful. Ms. Batts was a true pioneer and leader of the community. She will be missed.
