Sarah Dean Obituary
Gainesville - Sarah A. Dean, age 92, passed away on September 15, 2023, in Gainesville, FL. She was born on August 6, 1931, in Alachua County, Florida, to the late John Oliver Crown and Nellie Fowler Crown.
Sarah was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be remembered for her generous spirit, always willing to give her time and money to those in need. Sarah had a great love for sports, particularly the Gators, football, baseball, volleyball, softball, and gymnastics.
She is survived by her son Joel Dean Jr., daughter Suzanne Dean Gotro, grandchildren Sandi Gotro Tibi, Tommy Gotro, Brighton Gotro Benson, Jackie Dean Whitlock, and Ash Gotro. Sarah was also blessed with great-grandchildren Eleanor Whitlock, Noah, Taylor, Emily, Dylan, and Andrew Gotro, Jonathan and Matthew Tibi, and Sarah and Olivia Benson. She is also survived by her brothers Oliver and Robert Crown.
A graveside gathering to celebrate Sarah's life will be held at Oak Ridge Cemetery, SR 234, Micanopy at 11 am on Friday, September 22.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that contributions be made to Haven Hospice in Sarah's memory.
Sarah A. Dean will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

My earliest memory of Grandmother was when I was four years old, she and I were putting together a pink canope bed with a wavy top. I felt like a princess. Grandaddy was in Saudi Arabia, so when I got an upset stomach and threw up in my new bed that night, Grandmother said everything would be just fine and she carried me to her bed. She was always my best friend and confidante. She always put others before herself. A beautiful person inside and out... I know why Grandaddy loved her so much.
