Sarah Pearl Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 4, 2011.
Sarah Dee Pearl, born February 14, 1977 took her first breath in her heavenly home on May 4, 2011. Our precious Sarah is at liberty to explore untiringly the greatest adventure of them all in her pain free body. She has now experienced first hand the Truth of the Gospel… “for eyes have not seen, nor ears heard, nor can the human mind conceive the things God has prepared for those who love Him. We can only imagine the sensory delights she is now experiencing. Explore, Experience, Enjoy, Sweet Valentine, Enjoy!! Sarah is survived by her parents, Bill and Carolyn (nee Hilton), her sister, Hannah, her paternal grandmother, Kathryn (nee Wright), and her aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends. She is preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, O. Dee Pearl, her maternal grandmother, Dorothy Hilton (nee Estes), her maternal grandfather, Ernest L. Hilton and her uncle, Stephen Pearl. Sarah was born in St. Louis, MO and lived for periods of time in Jefferson City, MO, Hershey, PA, Mechanicsburg, PA, Kansas City, MO and Chicago, IL. She moved to Chicago to attend college and maintained her residence there until her recent relocation to Heaven. Sarah loved art, poetry, architecture, fashion design, photography, film, sewing, writing, acting, modeling, and traveling. She loved life in the big city and could create her own excitement and adventure out of ordinary experiences. Always the fashionista, she loved the camera and the camera loved her. She was a dreamer, a creative artist and an excellent communicator. Her sense of humor was keen and intact until the very end. Our hearts are heavy with our loss but our memories are full of joyful experiences with Sarah that will never be forgotten. Her battle with cancer was courageous and awe inspiring. She had a life too short, but a life well lived. She will be forever loved and missed by her family and friends. The first 34 years of her eternal existence are over. Now, for Sarah, the most excellent part begins! We will join you again sweet Sarah, in a blink of God’s eye. Visitation will be held from 4-8 pm on Thursday, June 2nd at White Chapel Funeral Home in Gladstone, MO. The funeral service will be held at White Chapel on Friday, June 3rd at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to www.CaringBridge.org, cancer research or your local Hospice support.

Somehow I was paired with Sarah in biology class, 9th grade. The most beautiful girl in school. I was a nobody but she didn’t hesitate to to ask about me and what music I liked. She liked George Michael. She volunteered to dissect the frog (I was so glad, I wanted no part of that) and I did the journal, she just jumped right in.
We were good friends in high school. In a time where “social classes” didn’t mix or it just wasn’t accepted, Sarah was just so approachable, fun, intellectually curious and smart. I was a long-haired, punk who wasn’t fond of going to school. Someone like Sarah wasn’t supposed to even acknowledge a boy like me. But she did, and went out of her way to come talk to me. I will always remember her smile and seeing her in the hallways. She always said hi even when I was too nervous to even think she remembered who I was.
We were both in theater and I remember thinking she was too good, she’d end up in New York or somewhere and be in movies. Like I’m sure every guy who ever met her, I had an absolute crush on this amazing girl.
We went to see Malcom X at the movies, it was supposed to be extra credit for history class. I’m not sure it was a “date” but I’ll always look back at the time as I got to take the most beautiful girl in the universe to a movie.
I just learned of her passing and I feel like I’ve been hit with a bat. She was a comet in my life and I’ll always remember her. Her life was too short. But her energy was so bright and will stay lit in all who were so lucky to have met her.
My absolute condolences to her family and friends.

I attended high school with Sarah. I heard about her passing a few years ago with some sorrow. She and I were friends. She was always kind, compassionate and shined with a bright intensity. The world is a lesser place without her in it.
