Sarah Dill Taylor, of Greenville peacefully passed away on March 20, 2016 at McCall Hospice House.
She was the daughter of the late Herman Franklin Dill and Meta Southerlin Dill. She was a lifelong resident of Greenville and the wife of the late John Randolph Taylor, who died on November 8, 1993. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Herman Dill, Jr.
Her major focus in life was her love for her church, family, and friends. Prior to her active life in the Swansgate Community, she served as secretary of Augusta Road Garden Club and was a charter member of Crescent Music Club. She held memberships in the Greenville Historical Society, Greenville Women’s Club, Greenville Garden Club, and served as secretary of the Carolinian Debutante Club. In 2000, she was a founding member and membership chairman of the Friends of Springwood Cemetery.
She was a long time member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday School, served as circle leader and on church council, and was a member of the care team. Sarah was known for the hats she hand-crafted and wore on Sundays. Due to her distinguished talents, she was often asked to help decorate the Church for special occasions. Her captivating gardens live on as a tribute to her appreciation of living things.
She is survived by her son, Barry B. Taylor of Greenville, her daughters, Donna T. Crawford (John) of Flat Rock, NC, and Diane T. Waldrep of Greenville, 4 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren, her sister, Mary Dill Martin, of Greenville, 4 nephews, and 2 nieces.
Memorial Services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at 11:00am. The Rev. Susan Crowell will officiate. Reception will follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent in her name to Trinity Lutheran Church, 421 N. Main St., Greenville SC 29601 or to Christ Church Episcopal School, 245 Cavalier Dr., Greenville 29607.

Our prayers are with you. Sarah was a joy to know and be with. She loved all of you and the ones of us in the extended family. She made us all feel
special when we were with her. She was a fine southern lady who ministered to all. We are with you in spirit today.

Barry & Family-
A great Southern Lady will be long remembered for her charm and kindnesses to others. I have fond memories of meetings we had at your home on Prentiss Avenue to discuss political and national events. A beautiful lady with a radiant smile will long be remembered.

Dear Diane,
Your mom sounds like a lovely lady. I wouldn't be surprised to learn that she and my mom were friends, both growing up here in Greenville.
Beck and I are keeping you and your family in our thoughts and prayers.
