Sarah Martha VanLandingham

Sarah Martha VanLandingham, 73, a resident of Oxford, Arkansas formerly of Cocoa, Florida, passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at Good Samaritan Village in Mountain Home. She was born December 6, 1939, in Moultrie, Georgia to the late, Clarence Elmo Pate and Ellie Minerva (Johnson) Greene.

She was employed as a dispatch sergeant with the Brevard County Sheriff's Office and then as a dispatcher with the Florida Highway Patrol. While living in Florida, Martha loved growing orchids and spending time on the beach with family; after relocating to Arkansas, she loved the rural farm life and has always loved dogs. She was a member of the Oxford Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Gerald VanLandingham, Sr.; and three brothers, Eugene and Dean Pate, and William Hicks.

Survivors include her husband, Darrell Sherrell of Oxford, Arkansas; a daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and Floyd Goddard of Cocoa, Florida; two sons and daughters-in-law, Gerald, Jr., and Jamie VanLandingham of Norfork, Arkansas, and Daniel Dean and Coleen VanLandingham of Cocoa, Florida; a brother, Monroe Greene of Mobile, Alabama; two sisters, Anna Busby and Mary Baker, both of Americus, Georgia; nine grandchildren, Corey Whitehead (Victoria), Sean Whitehead, Dustin Goddard, Nicholas Goddard, and Miranda, Rebecca, Jordan and Sophie VanLandingham; and a great-granddaughter, Larkyn Whitehead.

Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, July 20, 2013, at the Florida Memorial Gardens in Rockledge, Florida. Burial will be immediately following the service under the direction of Conner-Hankins Funeral Home.
