Mrs. Sharma, Neeroo and Neena, I'm so sorry to hear about the passing of your husband and father. I have so many good memories of "Mr. Sharma". He was a kind and patient teacher to me and so many other students at Oxbow High School. Several former students have been posting tributes and comments on Facebook and I thought this one was a great example of his many memorable phrases: "Pencils down, notebooks closed, minds open." He touched so many lives and we were fortunate to know him.

Mr Sharma was my high school science teacher over 30 years ago. Although he taught me for three years, it is not the subject matter that influenced me the most. He spoke with a heavy accent and even looked different from everyone in the community. But these things did not faze me. It was his genuine kindness that was foreign to me. At first I didn't know how to receive this gift. However over time, encouraged by his sense of humour, this tough as nails child too was won over. Mr. Sharma, Thank you for your gifts of humour and above all kindness. Life lessons of continued aspiration.

My deepest sympathy to your family and friends. I have fond memories of Mr. Sharma as one of my favourite High School Teachers. I was just reminiscing the other day telling my husband about a funny incident that happened in science class over 30 years ago. One of my classmates asked Mr. Sharma during class if he could use the bathroom. Mr. Sharma politely said "Yes you may" and then paused as the student quickly jumped up out of his seat and ran towards the door at precisely the time the student reached the door at Mr. Sharma concluded with "After Class." The room erupted with laughter! It was one of the funniest things I had ever witnessed in class. The timing was perfect and the student quickly took his red face and sat down for the rest of the class.I don't think that student ever asked to leave the room during class ever again.
May you rest in peace Mr. Sharma. You had a big impact on many students over the years and we will always remember you with warm hearts.

Sincerely,
Donna McDonald (nee Peterson)

I'm sorry to learn of Mr. Sharma's passing. Mr. Sharma was my Vice-Principal, and he taught me Chemistry and Physics at Oxbow High School 30 years ago. I'll always remember his enthusiastic explanation of covalent bonding, and I wish he had taught those in the world who don't understand that in science, both sides of the equation must balance. I think of that maxim, often. Mr. Sharma was a quiet man, but he could be really funny--in an understated way. He was a true gentle man, and I was fortunate to have him for a teacher. Thank you, Mr. Sharma.
