Shocked and saddened by the news of Curtis's passing. He was such a genuine friend to all. He helped us with our troubled rescue too. We will miss you terribly.

I had the esteem pleasure of meeting Curtis only 1 time on August 9th whenhe came to our home to train our 1 yr.old Pit Bentley. What we learned from Curtis in just 1.5 hrs shed so much light for us. My sympathy to his family. This is so very hard to believe, he was supposed to come back this past week. RIP Curtis

I just learned of this tragic news after I didn't hear back from Curtis to watch our dogs, and I am heartbroken. Curtis was the most giving, caring individual I have ever met. He basically saved my relationship with my (now) husband by working with our dogs to get along and stop fighting. I will never be able to repay him for that. He took our dogs on a whim when I went into labor with my son, he helped us train them to be good around our baby. He dropped anything to make it convenient for us to drop off our dogs with him when we went on vacation. He has a special place in his heart for my dog Kenzie and because of this, bent over backwards to care for her in times of need. He had a special gift that just came natural - it was amazing to watch him in action. He poured his heart and soul into the animal rescue community and I just cannot believe this happened to such a caring human being. My heart goes out to his family and friends. May he rest in peace.

I texted Curtis to watch our dog Emma and 2 days went by and I was concerned as he always responded quickly. A 2nd text, nothing, a 3rd, then I called. This was today 8/31 and I had my wife look his name up on the internet to find out this awful awful news. Curtis was superb and helped us tremendously with our dogs for over a decade. Stunned and saddened. We can tell our dogs know something is wrong too. We will all miss this gem of a person!

I'm so sad to hear of Curtis' passing. He was such a gifted man
I had the honor of meeting him in late 2008 when he drove to my house in Westville Indiana. I needed advice about one of my dogs. He was so very kind.

I am so sorry to learn of Curtis' untimely death. Curtis had an instinctive and intuitive understanding for the inner minds of dogs. He was incredibly generous in the way he shared that gift: educating humans to understand their canine companions; training dogs and humans to live in harmony; saving dogs that would otherwise be thrown away; working with convicts to rehabilitate them through caring for dogs; and countless other ways. He was dedicated and fearless, and will be sorely missed. I'm thankful that I had the opportunity to learn from him.
