I had the privilege of working with Scott while he was on the Jackson County Board and I was an Office holder. Scott was open minded, fair and always willing to listen. His goal was to make Jackson County a better place to call home. My prayers go out to his family.

My sincerest condolences and pésame for Scott´s family, Angela and their children. I was the beneficiary of Scott´s warm-hearted advice and hard-earned wisdom over the years that I had the pleasure of knowing him. He always impressed me with his sharp wit and superb memory, but it is the kindness he showed me over the years as a young academic and colleague that I will treasure. To his children and my colleague, Angela, I am infinitely saddened by your loss and the brutal swiftness of the disease that eventually took him from you.

Dr. Comparato was by far one of my favorite professors at SIU. Sadly, I wasn't able to tell him this before his passing. He taught me before the glitz and glamour of social media and digital technology. It was just him, the blackboard, and the chalk. He held my attention the entire class. He was engaging, informative, and kind. He knew the law and shared his knowledge for the betterment of his students' well-being. This is a major loss to the SIU community. My sincerest condolences to his family, especially his daughters.

This is devastating news! I am so sorry for your loss, Angela! Scott was an invaluable faculty member in the University Honors Program - challenging and supporting students hone their insights and pursue academic goals. We will miss him dearly. Here he is proudly with a student right after her thesis presentation.

My condolences to his family, friends, colleagues& students. I was Scott's TA several times and he was so fun to work for. Some if my best grad memories are from working with Scott and its a sincere blow to the political science & SIU community.

Mi más sentido pésame. Scott was a student of mine at Northwestern and as a result I got to go to his wedding. I still remember his commentary in class. He was a great guy, and I am fortunate to have known him.

Scott was a professor of mine and a friend. Our families spent time together with him and his family, sharing food, fun, and memories and many smiles and laughs.
