Scott Conover was a tough kid, cool as hell, but that's not what I remember most about him. In 1982 I was hit by a car, flew 50 ft in the air down the road and landed in front of Scott's house. He was "Scotty" then. First thing I recall seeing after opening my eyes was Scott's face. He heard the crash and somehow managed to get a pillow under my head and had covered me with a blanket. He talked to me and comforted me until the ambulance arrived. Keep in mind he was only about 13 then. Scott was the kind of kid that people had a tendency to judge by his looks; long hair, denim, work boots, etc.(like the rest of us, but harder) though he was much more than that. He had a huge heart capable of great compassion. Coincidentally, during my 5 week hospital stay I got to know Scott's brother Jim pretty well. Jim was down the hall with pins in his leg from a motorcycle accident. I can't say that Scott and I were great friends but I always had a soft spot for him and I think the feeling was mutual. Anyway, it's 33 years later and I've never forgotten how he was there for me and am deeply saddened to hear of his passing. My condolences to his family. Scott was a good guy.

Tara, it is with a broken heart that I extend my condolences to you and the girls. Scott was the first person I met when I started at Home Depot over 15 years ago. The great fun and laughs were amazing but never as precious to me as the times we spent jamming above the garage. Those were some of the best times of my life because of the person Scott was. I will always cherish my time with him.
