I am heartbroken and I'm so sorry I'm just hearing this sad news. I just finished a letter to Mat that I was going to mail tomorrow. Mat was the kindest and most gentle soul who helped me through some horrible times after I lost my son Nick. I hope those two beautiful spirits find each other. We love you Mat. Thank you for everything you did for us.

A true inspiration. As a fellow Multiple Myeloma fighter.....he kept us all going with his humor. He will be missed

I'm sorry for your loss. He was so filled with compassion and unlike any one I had met before.

My deepest sympathy. I had the pleasure of speaking with Mathura on the phone as we discussed my cancer story. I was one of the most memorable phone conversations I have ever had. He was such a loving and beautiful soul. We hit it off immediately. The world lost a wonderful and caring person

Both of our stay-at-home moms were besties who drank coffee, gossiped and shopped every day while we were in school. Of course they were home by three-fifteen when we turned the corner from our one block walk from Theodore Roosevelt Elementary School. My birthday is in August, just before back to school time. One year, Scott bought me a Partridge Family lunch box with thermos! I carried it proudly, filled with boloney sandwiches and apple slices. I know the other girls were jealous! I treasured it for many years, keeping it long into middle school, hidden in the back of my closet, filled with girlish treasures. I wish I still had it. Still, I will always cherish the memories of of our childhood, including pool parties, dog birthday parties, hide n seek, kickball and his very patient math tutoring.
