Scott Nusz Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 15, 2023.
Scott David Nusz, 59, of Madison, KS, passed away at his home on July 13, 2023. Born on February 24, 1964, in Rome, NY, Scott was a hard worker and always had multiple projects going on at once. He was constantly in motion, known for his love of restoring old homes and his passion for the outdoors, including hiking and kayaking. Scott's most recent companion was his beloved boxer, Sayge.

Scott's mischievous spirit was contagious, and his quick wit could turn even the gloomiest day into a laugh-fest. He was the life of the party, the joker in the deck, and his playful pranks will be remembered for generations to come.

Scott was a loving father and grandfather, cherishing his children and grandchildren. He leaves behind his life partner, Sandra Sitte of Madison, KS, his mother, Sheila Parish of Olathe, KS, his brother, Greg Nusz of Olathe, KS, his sister, Christina Woodworth of Overland Park, KS, his daughter Samantha Nusz (and Brad Morelan) of Independence, MO, his son Michael Schrader-Nusz (and Miranda) of Gardner, KS, as well as four nieces and nephews and three grandchildren - Cayden, Evalynn, and Caylee. He was preceded in death by his father, David Nusz.

Scott attended Torrejon High School in Madrid, Spain. Following his education, he proudly served in the Air Force from 1982 to 1986 and the Army from 1988 to 1992.

Throughout his life, Scott pursued various careers. He worked in over the road vehicle recovery, managed restaurants, and served as a Surgical Technologist at Overland Park Regional Hospital for 15 years. He also worked as a Traveling Surgical Technologist and was employed at Newman Regional Hospital, Emporia, at the time of his passing.

Scott was actively involved in his community, serving as the VFW Post 846 Commander from 2017 to 2019 and as a member of the American Legion Post 370.

Memorial services to honor Scott's life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to K9s For Warriors at https://bit.ly/43swAym.

Scott will be remembered for his dedication, love for his family, and his willingness to serve his country and community. His ornery stories and zest for life will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

I did not have the opportunity to know Scott. But I certainly knew of him from his friends and co-workers in the operating room. He will truly be missed.

My good friend Scott, known you since we were kids having serious fun in Spain and getting into mischief in Germany during our Air Force days. That trip to Berlin was quite memorable. You are going to be greatly missed.

I am writing this note to share my memories of Scott. We met in 1983 while stationed at Holloman Air Force Base in New Mexico. We quickly became friends, and we spent many hours exploring Germany together. Scott was always up for an adventure, and he loved to go on road trips. We would drive for hours, visiting villages and cities, and we would always find something new and interesting to see.

One of my favorite memories of Scott was when we went to Trier. We spent the day swimming in the pool and eating at the restaurant. We laughed for hours, and I felt like I could tell Scott anything. He was a true friend, and I will never forget him.

I appreciate having had Scott as a friend and a road companion. He was always there for me, and he always made me laugh. He will be deeply missed.

I will never forget the memories we´ve had together you´re the best uncle anyone could ever imagine. I wish we could have spent more time together but the time you came to Utah to have pizza and beer with me was the best and I will never forget that day and how you almost slapped my hand away from the card reader when I almost bought my own pizza I hope you´re looking down on all of us. Whenever I go to the cabin or do anything outdoorsy I´ll think of you.

Scott and I served together in the Air Force and roommates in Germany. I will never forget you and will remember the fun times we had together. I think you had so much more to give to the world and we all missed out on that. My condolences to those he loved. He will be missed

I will always love you my sweet boy. We started out on a difficult path. But it worked thanks to your Dad, Dave Nusz! You will always be loved by me. I am so sad. We will meet again my beautiful son. In a much better place! We will be together in eternity. You were supposed to meet me, but it wasn't God's will, so I will meet you with open arms and with your baby brother Michael! I will love you forever!

Scott and I were classmates and in the same graduating class of 1982 in Torrejon, Spain. He was always a guy with a big smile and big heart. I saw him last year in Denver at our high school reunion and he looked great. I am very shocked and saddened by his passing, my condolences to his family and friends. He made the world a better place.

Scott, Sandra and Sayge were an awesome trio. I met them through my job. They came to The Gym where I worked. They were so kind and friendly. Scott had Sayge on a leash with her vest on. I asked if I could pet his service dog, he said of course. He was so full of kind words and encouragement. We traded remolding ideas. He shared their new home and ideas for it with me. Sandra shared the pictures. I will miss him.

In loving memory of a wonderful person. I love you as a brother-in-law and will miss you always. We are blessed to have had you in our life and part of our family. You made my Sister the happiest I´ve ever seen being the Yen to her Yang. You will always be in our hearts and never far from our thoughts.
