Scott Richard Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 25, 2025.
After an incredibly long and courageous battle with Leukemia, Scott J. Richard, 54, of Placida, FL passed away at home on Saturday, August 23, 2025, surrounded by family that loved him very much. Son of Roger Richard and Barbara Maillet, Scott was born May 12, 1971 in Gardner, MA.

For those that were lucky enough to be Scott's friend, they will remember him for his ability to always make you laugh, his quirkiness, his caring nature, his willingness to always help others, and one who would not accept failure. He loved going for long rides on his Harley, shark tooth hunting, exploring new places to go and eat, finding the best ice cream places around; but most importantly, doing these things with his friends and family.

Scott was a dedicated, loving, and caring husband, married to his high school sweetheart for 28 years. There was hardly a time when he and his wife weren't together. They were truly best friends to the very end. He was also an amazing son and the best son-in-law anyone could ask for.

Working in the Automotive field since he graduated from Gardner High School in 1989, Scott gained an incredible knowledge in his field and was a mentor for those who worked with him. He was well respected and earned the trust of everyone who worked with him and from the customers he dealt with.

Scott is survived and greatly missed by his wife Lisa Richard (Gaulzetti), and his furry friend and snuggle buddy, Lulu. He holds a special place in the hearts of his father and stepmother, Roger & Donna Richard, his mother, Barbara Maillet, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bruce & Anne Gaulzetti. He will be fondly remembered by his brother and sister-in-law, Roger Richard, Jr. & Charlene Richard, his sister, Rhonda Richard, his brother, John Maillet, his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Scott & Connie Gaulzetti.

His memory will live on with his nephews and nieces. He holds a special bond with his nephew Joseph Richard, or as Scott said, his blood brother, as Joe donated life saving bone marrow to Scott 7 years ago. These additional 7 years of life gave Scott the opportunity to move to his dream home in Florida. He also leaves his nephews Matt Richard, Anthony Gaulzetti, Andrew Shoemaker, and Stephen Shoemaker, and his nieces Adriana Gaulzetti and Jacqueline Shoemaker.

Scott was preceded in death by his stepfather Jean-Paul Maillet.

Per Scott's request, there will be no calling hours or funeral. There will be a celebration of life at a future date to be determined; which of course will include cake and finger rolls.

Thank you to everyone for your thoughts and prayers for Scott throughout his fight, and for your sympathy to all of his family during this difficult time.

A great boss and a great friend. Scott was the definition of selfless and will be missed by all. I will miss his contagious laugh and hilarious impersonations that always kept me in stitches. A tremendous loss for all who knew him. I´m blessed to have had him and Lisa in my life.

My dear brother, I will cherish the last moment we had together that early Friday morning before I left, I told you I would miss you like hell and it was time for you to be at peace and let go. You looked at me right in the eye and said ," I know." I was able to tell you I love you and kiss you goodbye. Life is so unfair and there is a piece of me missing. I love you to the moon and back.
