KNEIBLHER, June Grace Bendorf 89, of Largo, died Saturday, May 22, 2010, at Tierra Pines Center. Born in Haddonfield, NJ, she graduated from Haddonfield High School. After becoming a telephone operator for Bell Telephone, she actively served in the U.S. Naval Service from Feb. 13, 1943, until being honorably discharged on Jan. 16, 1945. In March 1950, she enlisted in the 84th All Weather Fighter Wing, an Air Force Reserve Unit. The only female radio operator on the base, June was recalled to active duty in September, 1950, but received an indefinite deferment because of her dependents under the age of 18 years old. She was honorably discharged on Nov. 8, 1950. She returned to Civil Service, continuing her work in communications at Fort Dix, NJ; then as a cryptographer for military intelligence under the NSA in Kunia, HI, and spent her last 5 years of Service in Japan, prior to retiring to Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Lucy Bendorf. She is survived by her daughter, Terri Kneiblher; her four sons, Robert J. Kneiblher, Dennis L. Kneiblher, Charles V. Kneiblher III, and Jeffrey M. Kneiblher. There will be a Memorial Service on Tuesday, June 1, 2010, at 1 pm at the 2201 Dr. MLKing St. N. location.
