My heart is saddened to read of Scott's death. We attended CSS together, and he was a great friend. I was a single mom and he was a gem, helping out on cold Duluth days when my car wouldn't start. Kathy was always so understanding. Ian, your dad was a really kind man, whose heart was in the right place. A perfect man? No, but he knew he had faults, in fact, the last time we visited, that is what we talked about. But he loved you, and he loved life. May he rest in peace, and may the memories help to sustain you in your time of grief. Twila Doris Sauve, Duluth, MN CSS 1986

I am so sorry for your loss. I can still remember Scott allowing me to work on his old car as a teenager. He was always sweet to me and I appreciated that so much. He was one of the good guys, no doubt. Marni Bean Bach

My condolences to the Welles family. I will always remember Scott as one of the good guys. Even though our paths rarely crossed in adulthood, his kindness and genuine personality were always evident. He will be missed in this world.

I am so deeply saddened to hear about Scott dying. For a few years Scott and I were close, close friends. The memories of visiting the compound on Lake Vermillion, of getting to know his wonderful parents, his grandather, Mr. Griggs, with his incredible hunting stories. Boating, ski-doos in the winter and that airsled that flew across the lake when it was frozen. Mostly I remember the love and acceptance granted to everyone who visited. RIP, my friend.

I remember so many fun times with
Scott. As a first "boyfriend" he was great and as a friend he was even better. Always a smile and conversation whenever our paths crossed in later years. I am so sorry Stef & Maron. We shared some fun, carefree times as young kids! Scott always was part of my happiest memories. So many long, late night conversations on the telephone.

Dear Cousins (1st & 2nd), Scott or"Boo) and "the twins" were what I considered my best friends the first 10 years of my
life. There are a lot of memories that I cherish to this day
especially at our cabins on Lake Vermilion (ours was called
"Lower Slobavia"--no electricity
or plumbing but did i ever love
it) and my cousins at "the lake"
("God's Country" as so many of
us have called it). I am indebted
to Scott (Boo) & "the twins" for some of the best days of my 60
years on this earth! I believe
Scott's soul and memories of
him will live on and on...for
example, I'll never forget when
he told me that Scott stood for
"Great Scott" and his middle
name Alexander stood for
"Alexander the Great". I now
know for sure it IS the truth. God bless us all!

"Farewell my friend. I'll never forget the times we shared together. My thoughts and prayers are with you now. Bob"

Ahhhhh, how well I still remember "Mr. Boo" as a toddler at their Lake Vermilion home, then off to school where he had pretty good stories for "show and tell" much to the chagrin of his parents. Scott always made me smile and the shenanigans he and the twins got into were nothing short of amazing?

I have such wonderful memories of the Welles clan as neighbors and friends during our growing-up years on Lake Vermilion. When I first met Scott, he was little "Mr. Boo...a life time ago. We became scattered in the intervening years, far from Minnesota.

What an amazing fellow Scott grew into, dedicating his life to helping others.
My heart aches to hear of his death; I will pass the news on to my family.

May God comfort and sustain you during this difficult time, my dear Welles friends.

In sorrow and affection,

Jess Faber
