Scott White Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Sep. 6 to Sep. 10, 2017.
Scott William White, 57, passed away on Aug. 21 in Billings, Montana, just as the cosmos was beginning a total eclipse of the sun.

Scott was born in Enterprise, Alabama, on June 28, 1960 while his father was in the Army and stationed at Ft. Rucker.

He grew up in Billings and Great Falls, Montana, where he graduated from Great Falls High in 1978. He attended Montana State University, then went on to attend Bailie School of Broadcasting. He worked at several radio stations in Colorado, Idaho and Montana, at one point going by the name of "Jack Trevor".

He joined the Army's 92nd Chemical Company, 3rd Infantry Division in 1988. He was a Veteran of the Persian Gulf War where he became a voice of Armed Forces Network (AFN) and a frequently requested speech reader.

After he left the Army in 1993, he moved back to his beloved Montana and settled in the Gallatin Valley. He renewed his career as an on-air radio personality, working at many stations throughout the state.

Scott was an ardent MSU Bobcats and Denver Broncos fan. He was an avid music lover with a "voice made for radio". He strived to provide an entertaining, humorous and informational show no matter the format or location in which he was working.

Many generations of the men in his family had been Pastors of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod and Scott remained close to the Church, especially toward the end of his life.

Scott was passionate about fishing, but only with spinners, no fly-fishing for him! It was the pursuit that brought him the most happiness. One year he sweepingly exceeded a self-imposed goal of a fish a day for a year.

He was a daredevil and took risks, whether it was "surfing" a bus, fishing in a lighting storm up to his waist in water, or chasing a tornado. He wanted to live his life on the edge.

He was preceded in death by his father, Donald W. White, and is survived by his mother, Dorothy L. White, of Longmont, Colorado; his children, Noel A. Castillo, and her husband, Nick Castillo, of Northglenn, Colorado; Erin K. White, of Haverhill, Massachusetts; Quin W. and Rileigh E. White, of Bozeman, Montana; Grandchildren, Tracy L. Castillo and Kelsi J. Castillo, of Northglenn, Colorado; brother, Shaun A. White, of Longmont, Colorado; former wife, Laurie J. White, of Westminster, Colorado; companion, Hilary D. Rice, of Madison, Connecticut; and many loving uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.

The family would like to thank everyone who made his life a little better and a little easier.

Private services will be held at a later date.
