Scott Wood, 53, of Madison passed away at the University Hospital in Columbia on Friday, July 22, 2022.

Scott was born on February 15, 1969 in Moberly, MO, the son of Richard (Dickie) and Linda Cox Wood.  He graduated from Madison High School in 1987. Scott Married Rebecca Forrester on March 30, 2002 at the First Baptist Church in Paris, MO and she survives at the home.  Scott started his love for helping people and being a volunteer firefighter at the age of 15 and in his later years became the Assistant Fire Chief.  He was a volunteer firefighter for the Madison Fire Department for 35 years.  Scott also got his Dive Rescue Certification in 2004.  He worked at AB Chance Co. for three years, he then became an EMT in 1993, the Coordinator of Monroe County First Responders, and a paramedic in 2002 for Monroe and Randolph County for 30 plus years.  He was also a first responder.  Scott was always just for helping people.

Scott is survived by his wife Rebecca Wood, two daughters; Rachael (Blake) Hultz and Alicia Wood, parents; Dickie and Linda Wood; Grandmother Mary Ruth Wood, a sister; Stacy Wood; a brother; Derek (Becky) Wood; a mother-in-law Brenda Garnett; sister-in-law; Michelle Garner, brother-in-law; Jimmy Forrester; nieces and nephews; Zach Garner, Alley Dias, Natalie Parker, John Parker, Whitney Wood, Maddie Wood and Tanner Wood; great niece and nephew; Samirah Parker and Braxton Dias and countless friends and co-workers that he considered family.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents; Marvin “Bud” and Janey Cox and Sidney Wood; Harold & Betty Milsap and Earl & Ethel Milsap; a grandson, Hudson Hultz; Step father-in-law, Charles Garnett.

Scott was a member of the First Baptist Church in Paris.  He was also a Pro Staff member of the All Seasons Pursuit for several years.  Scott loved the outdoors almost as much as he loved helping people.  At his death Scott was an Organ Donor in which he saved 3 people’s lives.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 30, 2022 at the Madison High School with Reverend Wesley Hammond officiating.  Visitation will be held on Friday, July 29, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the High School.  Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery in Madison.
