Sean Cranmer Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 12, 2024.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved son and brother, Sean Thomas Cranmer. Sean was called home to the Lord on July 28, 2024, at the young age of 22. His fierce love for others was rooted in his strong faith in the Lord, thus bringing immeasurable joy and light into all the lives he touched.

Sean was born in Denville, NJ on December 15, 2001. Having lived in Hopatcong, NJ most of his life, Sean moved to Louisiana to fulfill one of his dreams of becoming an off-shore Commercial Diver. However, Sean's ultimate dream was to become a Dive Medic and help save lives. Sean knew that God had a plan for him, and through organ donation, Sean fulfilled both his dream and God's purpose. Sean gained respect through his strong ambition and motivation, and although his time working for Morrison Energy was brief, he will be remembered as being "one of the best young men they had the pleasure of knowing."

Sean was a devoted son to Thomas and Geri Cranmer and a loving brother to James and Jason Cranmer. He is also survived by his grandmother Caryn Cranmer, as well as many uncles, aunts, cousins, great cousins, and friends.

Sean is predeceased by his grandparents Raymond J. Smaha, Mary T. Smaha, and Thomas E. Cranmer; Uncles Jimmy E. Cranmer, Paul J. Smaha, and Thomas Brennan.

Sean was and still is a true inspiration to all those he met. He always strived to be the best man he could ever be by putting 200% into everything he did. In order to continually improve his mind, body, and soul, he researched, journaled, and worked out. He had a love for adventure, diving, nature, and animals. However, he loved God, his family, and friends most of all. His faith helped him conquer the challenges we all face, and the struggles never stopped him from smiling and laughing, bringing joy to all just by being himself. Sean will forever be remembered for his kindhearted soul, positive outlook, smile that could light up any room, and being negativity's worst enemy. If he could send us a message from heaven, he would want us to be able to carry on and see us all succeed. It was a true honor to have known you, Sean. You will be tremendously missed!

The 91-year-old man you met in Japan was correct: "It's worth living to have been able to talk to you."

May the LORD bless you, and keep you; May the LORD make His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you; May the LORD lift up His face to you, and give you peace.

Although our time together was short I remember our 3rd date together, we went to the WW2 museum in New Orleans and I adored his love of history. All of his travel stories amazed me, one of the most beautiful souls I had the pleasure of meeting and knowing.

Sean has truly taught me how to love and how i should be treated. He always showed me the positive side of everything and always cracked a joke when i needed it. From all of our bowling dates to our road trip to Louisiana every memory was amazing. He will be forever loved and missed by all who knew him.

My favorite memory with Sean was a day we had spent at the lake with Sean showing off his backflips and diving skills, later on we had a bonfire together and roasted marshmallows which led to us lighting fireworks. He lit all the ones I was too scared too, eventually it started raining on us. He invited us back to his mancave to watch an anime he liked. Being from the city im not very fond of wet grass bugs or dirt so Sean carried me from the car all the way up the stairs. We laughed all night sung kareoke songs did pull ups on his pull up bar. From meeting him at 8 years old he was always such a gentleman, a kind soul, so smart and athletic. He was a genuine good person which is very rare. He was so loved by everyone who got to know him and will be missed dearly forever.

The kind words that people are telling me about my son make it nice to know that people saw him as I do . Thank you.

Playing sports in high school and working out with Sean was something that made those memories fond ones. It´s about impossible to think of a time when he wasn´t smiling, excited to keep learning and pushing himself while everyone else around him was probably just excited to go home and eat dinner.

But it was that kind of of radiating energy that drew in everyone around Sean. It was so easy to forget about the hundreds of yards we ran on the football field during practice, or the thousands of meters during track practice when I was able to turn to Sean and see him having the best time ever (which is how he always looked).

Sean was always on a continuous path of improvement in his life. He knew this and loved continuing to grow. This was very clear when I first saw him be able to do a hand-stand from a squatted position, which was a yoga/CrossFit movement taught to us by our track coach, Michael Juskus. I remember being so jealous when Sean showed it to me after having just joined track a month before, meanwhile I was going at that move since the year before to no avail! From then on, Sean was in my mind every time I attempted it until I had finally reached my goal.

Sean was not only a student, but a teacher in so many more ways than he probably realized. Multiple times in this past week, I´ve found myself pausing and taking a step back during overwhelming periods to think about Sean, and think about how he would respond to whatever situation I´m in front of. And every time, the answer is that he would smile and get it done, because that´s the kind of guy he is.

I feel lucky and grateful to have been able to witness a small part of Sean´s journey, as I know he did more to chase his dreams after High School than most people have done in their lives. For this, I thank you for inspiring me, Sean. I know you´re doing just as well, still, if not better.

Sean and my son Joey were Best Friends and met in kindergarten. Their friendship was admired by most and watching them grow up together was one of the many blessings in my life. Sean convinced Joey to go to Bible study and that was a great influence in his life. Sean had a laugh that was contagious and the life-size cutout of the Rock in my driveway was just one of the funniest moments they shared. He was respectful, kind, and had a wonderful soul. He will forever be remembered as a bright shining star. Love and prayers to all Cranmer family. Our hearts are broken. God always has plan
