Sean Hayes Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 19, 2024.
Burlington, VT - Sean Hayes tragically passed away on November 11, 2024, at the age of 38, following a fatal car accident on Shelburne Road in South Burlington. He succumbed to his injuries, leaving behind a profound sense of loss among his family and friends. His unexpected death has left family, friends, and the entire community heartbroken.

Born in Burlington on August 25, 1986, Sean was a lifelong resident of the area. Sean graduated from Burlington High School in 2004 and continued his education at Becker College where he played hockey. Sean was known for his infectious smile, his boundless energy, and his deep commitment to the people and places he loved. He was a familiar face in the community, always ready to lend a helping hand or share a kind word. Sean's warmth and generosity knew no bounds, and he had an uncanny ability to make everyone around him feel valued and appreciated.

A talented and hardworking individual, Sean worked in the trades, where he developed a wide range of skills as a handyman, woodworker, and landscaping. He was known for his strong work ethic and his commitment to always giving his best, whether at work or in his personal life.

Sean's family meant the world to him, and he was especially proud of his role as a devoted brother, son, and father. Sean's caring nature and unwavering loyalty made him a beloved figure to all who knew him.

Sean is survived by his two daughters, Lola and Lily; his father, Steve Hayes; his mother, Donna Hayes; his sister, Brenna Lassiter; his brother, Connor Hayes; his sister, McKenna Hayes; along with many dear friends who considered him family. His kindness, sense of humor, and joyful spirit will remain in the hearts of those who loved him.

The community gathered for a celebration of life on Saturday, November 16th. Sean's family greatly appreciates everyone's support and love for Sean. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to an online fund for his daughters.

Sean's legacy of generosity, kindness, and love will live on in the countless lives he touched. Though his time with us was far too short, his spirit and the love he shared will never be forgotten.

I´m so very sorry for your loss. I´m just finding out about this now. I played hockey with Sean in Vermont and became fast friends with him. He had the best sense of humor and had infectious positive and happy energy that could light up the room. Though I haven´t spoken to him in several years, I often would think about all the great times we had hanging out in Essex Junction and then later in Worcester. I´ll miss you buddy!

Love,
Sully from Atlanta

Sean was a good friend to me when I needed one the most. The summer of 2020 was a very trying time for me (as with us all) and he showed up for me and helped by just being his pure joyful, goofy self. Doing "jumps" in his truck and just being silly. Sean was one of a kind. He will be greatly missed. -
