ODNE _ Selma Ovidia (Ohnstad) October 17th, 1906 - July 31st, 2007 Selma went to be with the Lord peacefully with family at her side. Predeceased by her husband John in 1957, sons Alvin and Lawrence, daughter June, grandson Jason, sons-in-law Myron, Art and Jim, also predeceased by three brothers and three sisters. She is survived by two sisters Joey and Lila of Ottawa. Survived by daughters Gladys Evickson, Mabel (Norm) Piper and Marian Hingston, sons Harold (Nadia), Ronald (Heather), Allan (Gail) and Myron (Fern); 19 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. She was born in Santa Rosa, CA., and shortly thereafter moved with her parents, John and Carrie Ohnstad to Watrous, Sask where another 8 siblings were born. Selma and her husband John raised 10 Children on their farm, and in Oct. 1956, they moved with their three youngest children to Surrey, B.C.. Sadly, John passed away in May of 1957. Selma enjoyed working and raising her family, for they were her life. In the mid-seventies Selma moved to White Rock, B.C. and enjoyed her lawn bowling, along with her many bridge games, the cruises and holidays she went on with her daughters and sons-in-law. For the past eight years she had lived with her son and daughter-in-law (Myron and Fern) in Maple Ridge. The last nine months she resided at Millers Pond in the Baillie House Care Home. Thank-you to all those who cared for her including Drs. Larry Lim and Fernandez, a special thank-you to Nurses Auria, Karen, LPNs and other Care Aides. Her life was blessed with amazing good health. She was extremely excited about reaching the young age of 100 years and surpassed it by 9 months. She was loved and respected dearly by all her family and friends and will by sadly missed. A celebration of Selma's life will be held, Saturday August 25th, 2007 at Burnett Fellowship Baptist Church at 1:00 p.m., located at 20639 - 123rd St., Maple Ridge, with Pastor Dan Ost officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Condolences may be sent to www.mapleridgefuneral.ca
