Tragically on Monday, September 12, 2011, age 17 years. Loving daughter of Ming Deng and Sarah Hui Liu and dear sister of Olivia and Grace. Cherished granddaughters of Huijun Lu, Liangshen Liu and Songjian Zhu. Dear niece of Yun Deng (Wei) and Kuang Liu (Jie). Friends are invited to visit at the West Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 150 Woodroffe Avenue, at Richmond Road, Friday, September 16 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon. Funeral Service to be held on Saturday, September 17, 2011 at Emmanuel Alliance Church of Ottawa, 4 Thorncliff Place (Bells Corners) Nepean at 1:00 p.m. Memorial donations in memory of Serena may be made to International China Concern or Emmanuel Alliance Church of Ottawa.

Dear Deng Family,
Serena was a very loving person and was truly one of a kind. I am very fortunate to have gotten to know her as a friend. From the very first time I met her I could tell she had a very pure heart and an open mind; she never judged anyone and accepted people for who they were. You raised Serena up to be an amazing person and you should be very proud of that.
My deepest and most sincere condolences go out to your family. I wish your family the best of luck and hope you are all doing well.

Dear Deng Family,
Serena was always lovely to me. She was kind and good hearted and would always make sure when I had stitches on my hand to hand me coffee so nicely, because I always spilt it on myself. I only knew her through Starbucks when I came in which was quite frequently, but not enough I am afraid and I am sorry that she is gone and there is deep pain in my chest knowing she is gone.
She was wonderful. I am so very sorry for your loss and I wish you better times in the future than the experiences you are having now.

Deng Family:
I only knew Serena for a brief time, but the times I did were full of laughter. A light is gone, and there is a hole in my heart. I know somewhere she is watching you, and smiling her beautiful smile, telling you things are going to get better.
So very missed, my deepest, and most sincere sympathy for you and yours.
