DEAR GARY AND SHALIMAR, I USED TO WORK AT CHILDRENS HOSPITAL WHEN I FIRST MET YOUR ANGEL SHALIMAR. I AM SO VERY SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS, SHE WAS THE MOST PLEASANT YOUNG LADY. SHE IS WITH THE LORD AND I AM SO GLAD THAT SHE WENT HOME BEFORE SHE PASSED I KNOW THAT SHE WAS SO MUCH MORE HAPPY KNOWING THAT SHE WOULD GET TO SEE HER BEAUTIFUL BLUE WATER. I HOPE THAT GOD GIVES YOU BOTH MUCH PEACE TO KNOW THAT SHE IS NOT SUFFERING AND ALSO KNOW THAT I DID LOVE THAT BEAUTIFUL LITTLE LADY. MY PRAYERS ARE WITH ALL OF YOU.

Jeannie and I were blessed to spend time in her sweet and inspiring company - our most fond memories of Bermuda are of this young woman and her joyful example. Lucky for us that Meals on Wheels was a part of our lives and Shalimar's smile was the first thing we would see when I dropped Jeannie off in the morning, or just called in for a chat on my way to work and get an update on what Beyonce was doing. Shalimar! What a Blessing!

Some may define an abundant life by the quantity of things they've acquired; but the full value of abundance was evidenced in Shalimar. She lived a true abundant life. She gave, and all of us who knew her were beneficiaries of the gifts she gave away. Whether it was in her smile, her laughter, her conversation, or her gentle Spirit; Shalimar has left indelible memories in our hearts and minds.

In the days ahead, when reminiscing, I pray that each remembrance of Shalimar will bring you smiles; and the tears that fall, brings you joy, especially to know that your Gift of God brought joy to many throughout her journey.

I am saddened to hear of your loss of such a shining star...I first remember seeing Shalimar in her daddys van...riding around with him when I worked in Hamilton. Even as a little child, she was full of sunshine. She was in my son Brians' year at Cedarbridge....and yes she was still smiling!!!! She lightened up everyones' day.....I call her "a candle in the wind"...god sent her to you and so many others you will probably meet now and in the days to come.....I can only imagine the heaviness in your hearts. It is amazing how some people leave behind so much in such a short time......God bless you all.
