Shane Holton Obituary
Born March 19, 1986 in Dover, NH the son of Paul B. Holton and Deborah M. (Howarth) White. Shane graduated from Marshwood High School in 2004 where he excelled in wrestling. Shane went on to work at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in the Sheet Metal Shop. Shane loved to golf, to ice fish and participate in local poker tournaments. He loved his family and was devoted to his friends. Although not an avid hunter, he always joined his family on their annual Thanksgiving hunting trip just to be close to them. Shane with his friends loved to go to camp and shared memorable canoe trips on the Saco River. He could make friends easily and always left them with a smile. His circle of friends was very important to him.
Shane is survived by his parents Paul B. Holton of South Berwick and Debbie (Howarth) White and her husband Bert of Wells, his beloved older brother Seth B. Holton and his fiancé Katie Messier also of South Berwick, Brian Holton of Cambridge, ME; Rheinhold and Kim and Carl Jay and his wife Natalia Holton of South Berwick; Steven and Holly (Holton) Dennis of Montgomery Village, Maryland; Bruce and Teri Howarth and Denise and Fred Flammia of South Berwick; Cousins Kyle, Scott, Chance, Taylor, Jesse and Jack Holton all of South Berwick; Alecia Dennis of Montgomery Village, Maryland; Katlyn and Doug Howarth and Jason Joy all of South Berwick. His extended family included Dan and Valerie Grenier of Old Orchard Beach; Johnna and Jason Garneau of Acton; and Michelle and Ray St Peter of North Carolina and their families. Shane’s grandmother Mrs. Robert Howarth shared a special and loving role in his life.
Calling hours will be Wednesday October 13, 2010 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. with services to follow at the Tasker Funeral Home in Dover, NH.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Marshwood High School Wrestling Boosters, Matt Rix Memorial Fund, and sent to Kennebunk Savings Bank, 7 Levesque Drive, Eliot, ME 03903, or any other KSB branch.

Dear Shane how can I put into words the emptiness we feel without you. There is never a day that goes by that a memory doesn't surface. When I see your friends, my mind flashes to you. I wonder at night if you can feel what I am feeling or know what I am thinking. I hope you do, because you would know exactly how big the hole is and that it never gets smaller. The collage of pictures that line the hallway tell a story of a life well lived - full of joy, camaraderie, deep friendships and lots of love. l hate to admit we get sad but we try really hard to direct that emotion into something good. Thank God Bert is here to prop me back up and kick me in the right direction. I don't spend time feeling sorry for us because we know full well that so many others face burdens that are hard in this life. Just don't forget how much you mean to us and how much your life impacted us. Bert always reminds me that the pain is so deep because the love is so big. You just can't fill that hole. My stubbornness keeps me going until we meet again. Love Mom

Shane and I have been friends for a very long time. We used to make it a point to go out at least once a week just to visit with everybody. He loved riding motorcycles and if the weather would hold up I would like to possibly arrange a motorcycle escort to his final resting place if that´s possible if that something you would be interested in. If it is something you´re interested in please give me a call 740-804-6238 we´ve talked about it and we would love it if the weather would hold up to be able to take him to his final resting place because of how much she loved motorcycles and I´m so sorry for your loss. Shane was a wonderful guy he always brought entertainment with him whenever he would show up once a week to visit with her cell. My heart breaks for him for you I just can´t even imagine because I know how bad my heart hurts

Shane, another year has passed without you in it. There are so many times that we wish we could share a laugh with you, watch you tease and cuddle your nieces and nephews, listen to your funny stories or tell us how you crashed on your friend's couch and it was the best sleep ever. Thankfully you left us with so many great memories. I know I replay them many times over trying to remember every word you said and how you looked at that moment. We all keep going which is exactly what you would want us to do. This song sums it up best for me "you should be here, standing with your arm around me here. Cutting up, cracking a cold beer, saying cheers, hey y'all it's sure been a good year. It's one of those moments, that's got your name written all over it. And you know that if I had just one wish it'd be that you didn't have to miss this ...you should be here."

Shane, it is almost your birthday and I wanted to write you a quick note to let you know how we are doing. Our lives are very different without you here to shine your light. This house holds all your memories and ours. So often I look up and see a picture of you and it brings me back to a moment in time. I so miss you and wonder what your life would be like today here on earth. I know Grammie is back with you and I am sure you are both celebrating that reunion. I miss your brilliant smile that cracked up a room. I miss your energy and excitement. I miss hearing our phone ring off the hook when you were home. Somehow everyone knew when you were home...even if it was just to grab more clothes to head back out. And today is St. Patrick's Day...your absolute favorite holiday to celebrate and drink green beer. Your green beads are still in your bedroom. Bert and I are hanging in and trying hard to carry on knowing you are OK and with some very special friends and family. Since I believe no soul gets to just hang around, I wonder what job you have been assigned. I love the month of March because it means winter is coming to an end and I hate the month of March because it reminds me again how I miss celebrating your birthday with you. I know there is purpose in all of this but some days it is just harder to convince myself. I hope you know that you are forever a part of us and we so appreciate that you are in this family. Shane I can't begin to tell you how much I miss you. You are never far from my thoughts! I have so many memories....how about when you came into my office at the shipyard and I got up to give you a big hug and do the mom thing and you said "not in the fence line mom"...we all laughed because that was classic Shane with a great big grin on your face. I hope you know our family has tried to carry on as best we can ..some days tougher than others. We will be a little sadder today but we know you would expect us to pick up the pieces and move on. Shane, you were so handsome yet friendly at an age when so many of the cute boys were not. Your smile is still the best I've ever seen to date. We weren't close, but whenever I saw you at parties you gave me a big hug and made me laugh until my stomach hurt. I remember falling up the stairs and my cell phone dropped into a big pitcher of beer. You and Hussey picked me right up. That goofy grin had me laughing, even though my knee was busted and my phone was broken. You are so special.

Our thoughts go out to everyone as we mourn the loss of such a wonderful man. My husband, dan, went through school with Shane and couldn't believe when we heard about Shane. He was the funniest guy we new. We were in our basement the other day when we saw a big blown up picture of Shane and all the other guys that did the time capsule in Jr high. I was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of your beloved Shane. Of course who can forget that wide, contagious smile and great sense of humor. I still can recall his happy face during his time in the Cub Scouts and teaching him Algebra as a freshman at MHS. It was always a pleasure talking to him, and he always rendered a heart felt greeting whenever I saw him.
