Countless hours of listening to the Pogues from my teenage years until this day in my 50´s..Can´t imagine I´ll ever stop. Went to a number of Shane´s shows , Couple shows in D.C., The Guinness Fest in NYC on Randall´s Isle in 97..The following year in Chicago..Lastly here in SoFlo (the Pogues only show here ever).. Love you Brother. Hope you know how much you´ve meant to all the Irish, particularly those of us in the diaspora..

I first saw Shane and the rest of the band at the legendary CBGBs/OMFGS. It was a night to remember. I had just left my marriage and needed to get as a far away from it as possible. I still had some relatives in NYC at the time, so I stayed with them for about a month. Bored one night and needing some entertainment, I went to see this band I had not heard of previously. It was nothing short of electrifying and amazing. Needless to say, I went and bought any Pogues album I could get my hands on. Over the years, I got to see them several more times, with the last time in 2012 at Barrowlands in Glasgow. Shane was our great modern troubadour, and he will be deeply missed in the world.

A deeply etched, oak-hued, knotty plank in the ever-buoyant life raft that is Celtic music (with a double shot of Jamieson's for polish). Vale great songster Shane McGowan
