It's not often you have the pleasure to meet a truly unique, free spirit such as Oby. A short time together, with lasting impact and memories. A profoundly inspirational and positive bloke.

You will be sadly missed, but your wild stories never forgotten.

Obey - I am so saddened to hear of your passing. You were the most inspirational teacher in my life and the person who inspired me to go into teaching. In one year as your student I learnt so much under your often unconventional guidance, you will not be forgotten by any of us. A fair man with a spirit for adventure who gave all of us a chance to shine. Greatly missed, deepest sympathies to the O'brien family - Gemma Fisher, St. Josephs Primary Grade 6 1990

Shane 'Oby' O'Brien, A truely inspirational teacher for his time at St Josephs PS, Port Melb in the 1990s. A great communicator for a large cross section of students, the teaching profession is poorer for the loss of Mr O'Brien. God Bless Oby! The Williams family of Port Melbourne.

Clarke Towson

A gifted, inspirational teacher who's lessons in life have stayed with me for the past 22 years. You told me many times 'Clarke - every dog has it's day!' that lesson stuck with me and inspired me to push on, never give up and achieve in life always remembering that my time would come. My time did come and I always think of you when I reflect on what I have achieved in my life.

You will be sorely missed Obey. Thank you for your guidance and life lessons at such an important formative time for me.

On behalf of the Towson family and my class mates of Grade 6 St Joseph's Port Melbourne - Rest In Peace.

O'BRIEN. - Shane Patrick. Dearly beloved brother of Pauline I will always remember your laughter, good humour and wild stories. Will cherish our walks along the beach, and when I don't see my footprints in the sand I know you will be the one carrying me. The tide of life ebbs and flows, but the gates of memory never close. Rest in Peace
