Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 23, 2023.
Shannon Craig Hearne, of Sachse, Texas died on Thursday, January 12, 2023 in Richardson, Texas. He was 79 years old.

Shannon was born on January 1, 1944 in Dallas, Texas. He graduated from Bryan Adams High School in Dallas, Texas in 1962. and went on to graduate from Baylor University in 1966. While attending Baylor University, Shannon met his first wife, Joyce. Shannon, Joyce and their young family lived together in Texas, Connecticut and Pennsylvania before Joyce's passing in 1979. Shannon and his family eventually settled in Mission Viejo, CA where he spent the next 19 years and served many esteemed positions during his business career. In 2001, Shannon moved to Austin, TX, where he was able to spend time with his sons and grandchildren. While living there, Shannon embraced all that Austin had to offer, and could often be found catching live music downtown.

Shannon was an avid fly fisherman and was inspired by the great outdoors. His passion for fly fishing took him, his family, and his beloved dogs on trips to Idaho, Wyoming and Colorado. One of his favorite memories was a day spent horseback riding and fly fishing with his family in Slough Creek, Yellowstone National Park.

Shannon's zest for sailing, history and travel brought him to numerous locations, including Italy, England, Morocco, Spain, France, Canada, and Mexico. Over the course of his life he owned multiple boats and loved to tell captivating stories of his sailing adventures.

At his core, Shannon was an incredibly intelligent man with a deep love for his family. He was a voracious reader and could express himself eloquently through words as few are able. Shannon cared most about providing love, nurturing, positive guidance, and serving as a role model for his children, grandchildren, extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Joyce Lee Morris Hearne, his father, Shannon Luther Hearne, his sons, Byron Jack Hearne and Shannon Scott Hearne, his brother, David Lee Hearne and his many beloved dogs.

He is survived by his mother, Mildred P. Landrum, his children Stephen Craig Hearne (Cristin Hearne), Lindsay Elizabeth Hall (Tylor Hall), his grandchildren Ryan Shannon Hearne, Samuel Craig Hearne, Daniel Scott Hearne, Lauren Elizabeth Hearne, Hunter Byron Donald Hall, his brother Daniel Ray Hearne, his daughter-in-law, Bridgette Hearne and many nephews and nieces.

As a boy during a very difficult time he and his father and my Uncle were never all that far away. Came to my rescue more than one time. One of my favorite weeks with him was spent in Galveston where we stayed at the Flagship Hotel. Great time with his family and him fishing off shore.
